OBE SYLLABUS IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD

A. VISION: CNSC as a premier higher education institution in the Bicol Region.

B. MISSION: The Camarines Norte State College shall provide higher and advanced studies in the fields of education, arts and
sciences, economics, health, engineering, management, finance, accounting, business and public administration,
fisheries, agriculture, natural resources development and management and ladderized courses. It shall also
respond to research, extension and production services adherent to progressive leadership towards sustainable
development.

C. QUALITY POLICY: We, at Camarines Norte State College, aiming to become a Premier Higher Education Institution in the Bicol Region,
are committed to providing excellent services in instruction, research and extension that are responsive to the
satisfaction of our students and other stakeholders.

To achieve these, we shall implement an internationally recognized management system in our operations,
processes and services and shall:

• comply with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, the mandates of the College and relevant needs
and expectations of our students and other stakeholders, and the requisites of our quality management system;

• delight our students and other stakeholders by providing value-adding experiences to become well-rounded and
more competitive future leaders in the midst of global issues;

G. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this course the students will get to know the Indigenous groups in the Philippines, their way of life, role in
and contribution to Filipino society (CHED CMO 20 s.2013).

M. INSTITUTIONAL INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:


CNSC envisions a graduate having the following attributes: professional competence, critical and creative
thinking skills, technical competitive skills, productivity, social and ethical responsibility, communication
skills, interpersonal skills and lifelong learning.

N. PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:


For Bachelor of Science in Development Communication, the following set of objectives describes what
graduates are expected to attain within few years after graduation:
1. Demonstrate critical understanding of development perspectives and apply communication
theories/models, principles, practices, and tools in the development work;
2. Organize, exchange, and utilize information and knowledge in the communication profession;
3. Develop communication program and plan communication research, monitoring and evaluation;
4. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in different formats and platforms (print, broadcast, and on-
line) as well as the ability to develop and produce multi-media materials;
5. Practice rights and responsibilities and accountabilities in the communication profession and adhere to
ethical standards and practices; and
6. Integrate technical knowledge in content development and management.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

1. Distinguish different tribal communities located in the different islands of the Philippines.

3. Understand the issues confronting the Philippine indigenous communities (PICs).

B. Skills
1. Analyse contemporary events that affects the PICs.
2. Write a term paper with proper citations or a visual media on a topic related to the IPCs.
3. Create a concreate action to address the contemporary issues confronting the PICs.

C. Values
1. Articulate personal positions on the state of the IPs.
2. Empathize with the current state of the IPs.
3. Develop high ethical values and concern on human lives and on the physical environments.
