Youth Handball Shooting Drills

This document outlines 10 shooting drills for young handball players, separated into drills for each of the six primary court positions: left wing, right wing, left back, right back, center back, and circle/pivot. Each drill involves three stages - individual practice, group practice without defense, and practice against active defense. The drills are then described in detail, outlining how to practice shooting from each position both with and without defensive pressure.

Mybest10shootingdrillsforyounghandballplayers

As a team handball coach, when talking about shooting drills, I always separate them by six primary court positions: left wing (LW), left back (LB), center back (CB), right back (RB), right wing (RW) and circle runner/pivot(C/P).Thatwaywecanclearlyseethedifferencebetweenthosedrills. Each recommended drill will be represented in three stages. In the first stage, the drill involves individual learningandpracticebetweenaplayer, coachandgoalie.Inthesecondstage, thedrillprogressesintoagroup exercise withoutdefense. Inthethirdstage,playerspractice/improvetheirshootingtechniqueandaccuracy againstsemiandfullyactivedefense. Dependingoncircumstances(i.e.,players'experience)andcoach'sparticulargoals,itispossibletomanipulate thedrills(i.e.,increase/decreasedifficulty,fosterdevelopmentofcertainconditioningelements)tomeetthose concreteteachingobjectives. Allselectedexerciseswillbepresentedinthefollowingorder: 1. shootingdrillsforleftwing 2. shootingdrillsforrightwing 3. shootingdrillsforleftback 4. shootingdrillsforrightback 5. shootingdrillsforcenterback 6. shootingdrillsforcircle/pivot Legend:
