The global health threat caused by Covid-19 has resulted for schools, colleges, and universities to temporarily shutting down physical operations. The Philippine education sector, in particular, shifted from face-to-face interactions to emergency remote education. However, the question relies on the context that the majority of educators are trained and products of traditional teaching and learning environment. And since there is an urgency to adapt to emergency remote education and implementation of face-to-face in-service trainings, seminars, and workshops are prohibited, the idea of shifting to webinars has been seen as a way for educators to still engage in continuous professional development even at a distance. It cannot be denied that there is also a paucity of research about educators' webinar experiences during this time of uncertainty. Hence, using qualitative case study research, this study investigates the experiences of higher education instructors with regard to in-service training webinars and how this addresses and helps them to adapt to the sudden change of educational context. More importantly, there were three themes that emerged in this study: flexibility in engaging in lifelong learning practices, openness to alternative delivery of in-service training programs, and thirst for digital literacy skills improvement. The paper concludes with the overall findings and its implication to emergency remote education.

Pojmovi: projekt, Webučionica, edukacije, volonterizam, stručno usavršavanje, webinari, pandemijsko vrijeme, učenje korak po korak… Webučionica je nastala kao projekt 2019. godine i njezin primarni cilj bio je da digitalno znanje i vještine koje imamo kao autori projekta Nevena Petrović, Lana Jager i ja ponudimo i drugima kao dobre primjere. Primjere koje smo pripremili da podijelimo (u tom trenutku prvenstveno s učiteljima razredne nastave) bili primjeri koje smo sve tri redovito imale u svojim učionicama. Uz digitalna znanja i vještine koje smo imale odlučile smo prema partnerima u projektu obratiti se putem webinara i na taj način biti prisutni i svoje vještine prikazati kroz metodu korak po korak u ostvarivanju određenog načina rada u nekom digitalnom alatu. Naši prvi webinari i digitalni alati koje smo poučavali partnere u projektu bili su: Wordwall, Canva, eTwinning (više webinara), Google prezentacije, MS Power Point… Vrlo brzo smo na platformi eTwinninga u projektu imali više od 100 partnera i nismo mogli webinare održavati na toj platformi (održali smo 24 webinara/događanja na platformi eTwinninga).

In this chapter, we examine trends involving video usage in science teacher education and science education research. We trace developments in video technologies and explore examples of the ways in which video/multimedia have been utilized in the education of science teachers. We conclude the review by summarizing our findings, and offer implications for research on the utilization of video and multimedia technologies in the preparation and professional development of science teachers. Specifically we raise questions and considerations for future research as it relates to science teacher education and research in science education.

Web-based-seminars, abbreviated as ‘Webinars’ are one of the most advanced Computer-mediated communication (CMC) systems. These supportive means provide round up meetings for Distance Education students within online classes with no walls. Webinars, designed onto Elluminate, Adobe Acrobat Connect, Live Meeting, let students learn collaboratively and interactively via licensed or open resources, textual information in the form of hyperlinks, audiovisual images, e-books, streaming videos, online chat opportunities and virtual debates on the target course. All these supportive on-screen-tools help learners to participate in course sessions more actively.
To strengthen our understanding of Webinars, this paper focuses on learning and teaching dimensions of webinars in terms of online learning technologies and real-time interaction through Web. The specific webinar experiences of an online course students will also be explored and revealed by referring Anadolu University’s ongoing evolvement on Distance Education attempts.

Math and Science Partnership (MSP) projects with a professional development component may rely on online presentations or webinars to deliver the training content. Often, evaluations of webinars focus on participant satisfaction as the primary indicator of webinar quality. Just as evaluations of curricular materials and in-person training make use of rubrics aligned with quality standards, TEAMS has developed a webinar evaluation rubric, aligned with best practices, which will enhance the quality and rigor of the evaluation of webinars. Ratings on the rubric will provide an additional source of information about webinar quality for evaluating MSP projects that rely on webinars as a major program activity. Additionally, the rubric may serve as a set of guidelines or planning checklist for MSP project staff during the preparation phase of webinar activities.

The aim of this study was to examine psychological factors which could influence acceptance and use of the desktop video conferencing technology by undergraduate business students. Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, this study tested a theoretical model encompassing seven variables: behavioural intentions to use desktop video conferencing, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, general social influence, peer social influence, facilitating conditions and autonomy. Data were collected on a sample of 177 undergraduate business students in a compulsory information system distance course using an online questionnaire. The results indicate that the main drivers of the behavioural intentions to use desktop video conferencing are, in order of importance: performance expectancy, facilitating conditions, general social influence and autonomy mediated by performance expectancy (R 2 = 50.5 %). The structural model was further examined across gender and age groups. The results indicated different patterns of strength and significant relationships between groups and with the overall model, suggesting that gender and age played a moderating role. The discussion focused on the most important factors to consider by administrators and faculties in higher education when they come to implement desktop video conferencing in online academic courses.

This document provides a description of the organization and implementation of
the webinar series that have been delivered during the project MARCH. The
Educational RadioTelevision (EduTV, P9) co-ordinated the working package of
the webinars from May 2015 to December 2016 and organized 6 webinars in
Greece. The partner Ciência Viva (CV, P7) organized 2 webinars in Portugal and
each one of the partners British Science Association (BSA, P2) in the UK, Forum
Democrit (FD, P3) in Bulgaria and Jungvornweg (jvw, P4) in Germany organized
one webinar respectively. The report describes the process whereby they have
been designed and delivered including the format of previous dissemination
activities and feedback from participants after the implementation of the
webinars. Furthermore, the report highlights the challenges encountered and
key recommendations after the experience gained of the series of 11 MARCH
webinars.

هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرُّف على الممارسات والإجراءات المختصة بعقد وتنظيم الندوات الإلکترونية المجانية المقدمة عبر الإنترنت في تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات بدول العالم العربي، معتمدة على المنهج الوصفي لرصد ووصف ما تقوم به المؤسسات العربية من ممارسات وإجراءات لعقد وتنفيذ ندواتها الإلکترونية المجانية التي تقدمها عبر الإنترنت، ورصد ما يفضله جمهور منتسبي تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات من واقع تجربة مشارکتهم وحضورهم لفعاليتها المختلفة. وتم استخدام المقابلة المقننة والاستبانة المحکمة کأدوات علمية في تجميع بيانات عينة حصرية من مجتمع المؤسسات العربية، ورصد وتجميع معلومات عينة عشوائية بسيطة من جمهور منتسبي تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات ممن شارکوا وحضروا بفعاليات الندوات الإلکترونية المجانية المقدمة عبر الإنترنت، وذلک للوقوف على نقاط القوة والضعف بالممارسات والإجراءات الحالية المبذولة في عقد وتنظيم ندوات إلکترونية عبر الإنترنت في تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات بدول العالم العربي، وتحديد متطلبات التطوير والتحسين اللازمة لتکون مواکِبة لتطلعات جمهور منتسبي تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات، وملبية لاحتياجاتهم العلمية والمهنية على السواء، وبالشکل الذي يعزز فرص مشارکتهم وحضورهم بفعالياتها المستقبلية.
وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج علمية بينها بدء ظهور أولى الممارسات العربية القائمة على عقد وتنظيم ندوات إلکترونية مقدمة عبر الإنترنت ممثلة في مبادرة قاعة اليسير للتعلم عن بُعد والمؤرخ لها بشهر سبتمبر من العام (2011)، ومثَّل عام (2018) بداية ازدهار الندوات الإلکترونية في تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات عربيًّا؛ إذ حظي بنسبة (12%) من فعالياتها، في حين شهد عام (2020) زيادة مفرطة في توجه المؤسسات العربية لعقد وتنفيذ ندوات إلکترونية مجانية عبر الإنترنت، بما ساهم في نمو المشارکة والحضور بفعالياتها ليصل إلى (33%) من جملة مشارکات جمهور منتسبي تخصص المکتبات والمعلومات بدول العالم العربي على مدار الأعوام العشرة الماضية (2011/2020)، والتي اختصتها دراسة الباحث بحدودها الزمنية. في حين اختتمت الدراسة بعدة من التوصيات التطبيقية جاء على رأسها الممارسات والإجراءات الموصى بها والتي يجب اتخاذها بعين الاعتبار من قبل المؤسسات العربية عند تخطيطها المستقبلي لعقد وتنظيم ندوات إلکترونية مجانية عبر الإنترنت في ضوء ما يفضله الجمهور بدول العالم العربي وتجربة مشارکتهم وحضورهم فعالياتها.

Using  the  Unified  Theory  of  Acceptance  and Use of  Technology  (UTAUT),  we  have  tried  to  find  out  the  factors that  could  explain  the  acceptance  of  Elluminate  by  business students.  A  Sample  of  167  students  enrolled  in  a  management information  systems  course  was  obtained.  Regression  analyses were  made to  test  the  hypotheses.  Results  had  shown  that  the intention  to  use Elluminate  was positively influenced  by performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence. Performance  expectancy was  proven to be the strongest predictor of the intention to use  Elluminate. Independent variables have explained 43.6% of the variance of the dependent construct. Using the UTAUT model in the educational  field is one of the theoretical contributions of this research. University administrators  can use obtained  results  to  make an informed choice about the use of the technology in the educational context.

Information is presented about some examples of scientific interactions between researchers from India and Russia in the form of a joint participation in the scientific seminar that took place in 2020 (November) under the the aegis of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Embassy of India. The goal of this publication is to provide information on some international scientific interactions among Russian and Indian scientists in the area of ecology and environmental protection. Under the aegis of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Embassy of India, an international online seminar took place on 25-26 November, 2020. At the seminar, 50 scientific presentations were made. Among them, 50 % of presentations were made by scientists from India, and 50% of presentations were made by researchers from Russia.

Distance education provides a wealth of opportunities and areas for innovation , but it also presents unique challenges for implementation and eventual success. To mitigate these challenges, this chapter will present four critical components—systems, objectives, evaluation, and personnel—that combine into one to create a technology infrastructure that can support distance delivery. Through this chapter, e-learning leaders will gain the knowledge to not only identify key features of tools used for distance delivery, but also understand and appreciate the correlation between a holistic infrastructure approach and quality distance delivery. The absence of one of these critical components will likely result in an unsuccessful technology integration. To aid in the explanation of these critical components, the chapter will focus on three main distance education delivery forms—webinars, classroom captures, and e-learning modules. The chapter will provide an overview of the types of questions and elements that should go into consideration of any distance education tool, and will aid in the effective assessment and evaluation of these tools, as well as personnel considerations that should be taken into account.

This study concentrates on understanding the engagement of the academic community in webinars during COVID-19. A questionnaire was prepared and distributed among the postgraduate students, M.Phil and PhD research scholars and working professionals of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Gauhati University, Mizoram University, North-Eastern Hill University, Tezpur University and Tripura University and their responses were recorded, analyzed and presented.

The proliferation of distance education has occurred alongside the emerging technologies of the Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 environments, changing the way instructors approach, design, and deliver their instructional materials. In the past, instructional design (ID) practitioners relied on instruction system design (ISD) models that focused primarily on macroinstruction. It is now important for these practitioners to use microinstruction strategies to keep pace with the technology evolution. This case study describes the TAPPA (Target, Accomplishment, Past, Prototype, Artifact) Process which was created using the Generic Model for Design Research (GMDR) proposed by McKenney and Reeves (2012) and uses selected ID concepts from the ADDIE (Molenda Performance Improvement, 42(5), 34–37, 2003) framework, and the Dick and Carey (Dick Educational Technology Research and Development, 44(3), 55–63, 1996), Backwards Design (McTighe n.d), and Rapid Prototyping ID Models (Tripp and Bichelmeyer Educational Technology Research and Development, 38(1), 31–44, 1990). The TAPPA Process is ideally suited for the microinstruction development typical of distance education environments and has been used to create more than 25 webinars and 12 e-learning modules over the past four years.

This study focuses on the perception of grade 12 student in AITSA-CABUYAO about school webinars. It allows students to not only record a video but also share it with friends and schedule time to learn in groups. Teachers, on the other hand, are not required to show themselves in a live class; instead, they can pre-record lectures and posts that student can view during their preparation time. Webinars are beneficial now because we are in the midst of a crisis, and many people are battling with their mental health, thus it is important to have this type of event even without leaving your home. Webinars take place exclusively online. Students, specifically, are the ones who suffered the most due to the changes happened on the educational system during this time of pandemic. Mostly, students are currently suffering from various mental illness and is now experiencing culture shock that tested their coping mechanism on how to handle new educational environment. In this study, it can clearly be an implication that webinars are a great help to help the students overcome mental health issues. This research also provides insight about the students' difficulties handling online classes and how family support is needed during this time of crisis.

Protokol pelaksanaan pilkada di era pandemi Covid-19 yang dirancang oleh Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) melalui Peraturan KPU (PKPU) tinggal menunggu diundangkan. Komisi II DPR RI telah menyetujui ketentuan dalam PKPU tersebut. Penyelenggaraan pilkada di masa pandemi Covid-19 ini memiliki tantangan baik dari sisi teknis maupun kualitas penyelenggaraan. Jika tak diantisipasi dengan baik, pilkada yang digelar di masa pandemi ini alih-alih melaksanakan demokrasi di tingkat lokal dengan baik, pilkada justru melahirkan masalah baru baik dari sisi teknis maupun nonteknis. Tantangan teknis penyelenggaraan pilkada di masa pandemi yang berkorelasi erat dengan pendanaan pilkada. Penerapan protokol kesehatan dalam penyelenggaraan pilkada secara pasti akan meningkatkan biaya penyelenggaraan pilkada. Sebut saja pengadaan alat pelindung diri (APD) bagi petugas di lapangan termasuk pemilih seperti masker, sabun cuci tangan, penyanitasi tangan (hand sanitizer), face sheild, termasuk baju hazmat jika diperlukan khususnya di daerah yang berkategori zona merah. Kebijakan pengurangan kapasitas pemilih di setiap tempat pemungutan Suara (TPS) yang semula 800 menjadi 500 pemilih dengan mempertimbangkan protokol kesehatan physical distancing akan memberi konsekuensi penambahan TPS dan petugas di lapangan. Kondisi inilah yang meniscayakan kenaikan biaya pelaksanaan pilkada oleh penyelenggara. Seperti saat rapat kerja antara penyelenggara pemilu dengan DPR dan pemerintah mengajukan tambahan anggaran seperti KPU mengajukan tambahan Rp 4,7 triliun, Bawaslu mengajukan tambahan Rp 478 miliar, dan DKPP mengajukan tambahan sebesar Rp 39 miliar. Mengenai anggaran pilkada ini juga dipengaruhi kemampuan fiskal di setiap daerah penyelenggara pilkada yang berbeda-beda. Kementerian Dalam Negeri melansir sebanyak 206 daerah dari 270 daerah yang menyatakan mampu pendanaan melalui skema APBD tanpa bantuan APBN. Dalam rapat kerja DPR dan Pemerintah bersama penyelenggara, pemerintah berkomitmen untuk memberikan dukungan tambahan pendanaan pilkada tahap pertama (Juni) sebesar Rp 1,024 triliun. Kedua, tantangan kualitas pelaksanaan pilkada di era pandemi. Indikator kualitas tidaknya pelaksanaan pilkada tentu yang utama tak lain pelaksanaan pilkada dilakukan secara demokratis yang di dalamnya terdapat sejumlah indikator penting yang tak bisa ditawar-tawar. Di antaranya mengenai partisipasi masyarakat dalam pilkada 2020 ini. Persoalan partisipasi pemilih dalam pilkada di tengah pandemi merupakan tantangan serius bagi penyelenggara pemilu. Sebanyak 106 juta pemilih dalam penyelenggaraan pilkada di 270 daerah harus dipastikan partisipasinya dalam pilkada. Meningkatkan partisipasi pemilih di situasi pandemi saat ini tentu bukan perkara mudah, apalagi hingga mampu menyamai persentase partisipasi pemilih seperti pilkada serentak 2018 lalu yang cukup tinggi yakni sebanyak 73,24 persen. Faculty of Engineering, Industrial Engineering Study Program, Medan Area University held a webinar event titled "Toyota Manufacturing System & Latest Technology Developments" on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, through the Zoom application and live streaming on the Medan Area Area YouTube channel. The resource person of the webinar was Mr. Ir. Made Dana M Tangkas, M.Sc, IPU, AER who is the Director of Toyota Motor Indonesia.

This research explores how academic webinars are translanguaged by drawing on the sort of linguistic strategies and techniques implicated in these webinars. The research, therefore, poses two key questions relevant to how knowledge is communicated and what strategies are used in this communication. The research hypothesizes that academic webinars communicate knowledge from a single professional presenter to many knowledge-receiving attendees, based on a presupposed view that presenters and moderators in webinars adhere to certain linguistic and conversational moves. To explore how academic webinars proceed and what they imply, a single academic webinar was randomly sampled for analysis. First, academic webinars were introduced, key terms were defined, and some previous literature was highlighted. Then, the sampled webinar was administered for analysis (gathering, transcription, analysis), a discourse-conversational model of analysis was applied, and a complete analysis was conducted. Finally, the research concluded findings, laid down conclusions, and suggested future areas of research. The research found that webinars are knowledge-specific, highly professional, and they manifest certain linguistic and discourse strategies. The research, also, concluded that webinars feature strategies such as reformulation, mono-versation, on-screen sharing, speaker invisibility, indirect engagement, inactive moderation, and graphic interaction. The research, further, recommends a more linguistic investigation into online learning, whether in webinars, online workshops, massive open online courses, or in any virtual learning practices.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the world to quarantine, and webinar platforms became the replacement of professional, learning, and social activities. This shift occurred suddenly and found many of us unprepared to the challenges that represent interacting with others in a virtual world. Suddenly we became 'slaves of the screen' performing our duties. People on social media reported burning eyes, neck stiffness, dizziness, feeling anxious, and even having problems sleeping. In other cases, colleagues said they were losing motivation for work. This article introduces the term 'Zoomitis' to refer the feeling many of us experienced for the last weeks. We are spending hours looking at small squares with faces on the screen. This article aimed to formulate a set of recommendations to minimise Zoomitis in the work environment. The author discusses strategies that could make a difference in current pandemic times we are living.

To ensure student activity in webinars we have defined 10 learning tasks focusing on production and communication e.g. collaborative writing, discussion and polling, and investigated how the technology supports the learning activities. The three project partners in the VisPed-project use different video-conferencing systems, and we analyzed how it is possible to implement different learning activities in the video-conferencing tools, alternatively using external tools in combination with video-conferencing tools. The webinar technologies investigated (Microsoft Lync, MeetCon and Adobe Connect) mainly have features to create live polls, share screens and resources, chat and handle user roles (presenter, guests). Learning activities based on e.g. collaborative text production, collaborative work with spreadsheets, presentations and evaluations demand the use of external applications.

The unprecedented spread of the COVID-19 pandemic compelled academic institutions and public repositories worldwide to come up with novel ideas in order to keep themselves functional. Adoption of new technology often constituted the fulcrum of such institutional responses. This article delves into some of the measures adopted by the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, one of India's premier research institutes in social sciences. While doing so, it delineates a few anecdotal references from the past as well. The article emphasizes that the technological shifts in the wake of COVID-19 have far-reaching consequences so far as dissemination of knowledge through seminars and access to primary sources are concerned.
