Strategy In Telecommunications Industry and Services

PhD Thesis on Industrial Organization and Human Resource Management in Thailand by using a case study of the telecommunications industry.
The intrinsic motivation comes from the mismatch between education and employment side in the Thai labour market, esp ICT. The graduates are under-employed and take 6-12 months to find the suitable job. At the same time, the companies spend 7.4 weeks to fill the vacancies at the professional level and most blame the lag of adjustment of educational institute. The reason that I choose telecommunications industry is that this industry shows high potential growth and is an important foundation of digital economy and information society. So, I would like to find whether there is a problem of mismatch, or a shortage of ICT personnel. And what are the countermeasure which the companies in this industry have used to solve the problems.

We discuss requirements and techniques for the service data point (SDP) in intelligent network (IN) architectures in telecommunications systems. The SDP must provide real-time, simultaneous access to high volume databases. We give a short overview of SDP requirements derived from currently developed and future IN telecommunications services

In India, the execution of Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization in 1991 July, considerably increases the huge growth of information technology in recent years which led tremendous transformations in the second largest mobile network role in the universe and also bring incredible changes in the lifestyles of the consumer. Today, the India telecom industry is witnessing the lowest telecom tariff globally and the highest growth rate in terms of connections. The Indian mobile industry is the fastest growing in the world and India continuously adding more mobile connections every month than any other country in the world. As an effect of technological development today people without mobile phones can't be seen as well as the necessity of mobile became as a communication tool at any time anyone can be witnessed. The customers expectation and technological innovation in today's competitive environment differentiate the service leaders from competitors by truly delighting the customers. So it turns out to be very important for the organization to delight its customers not just by their services but by reaching beyond the expectations of the customers. So the study attempts to observe the customers delight towards Mobile Network Service providers.

O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar os pontos fortes e as prioridades de melhoria dos serviços oferecidos pelo SESC Roraima, de acordo com a percepção de qualidade de seus
stakeholders. Realizou-se uma pesquisa descritiva com levantamento por meio de questionário estruturado aplicado a 30 empresários (presidentes dos sindicatos que compõem a federação do comércio) e a 334 comerciários (funcionários do comércio), todos usuários dos serviços do SESC de Roraima. Analisou-se a relação entre a importância e o desempenho das dimensões por meio da matriz de importância versus desempenho, verificou-se o alfa de Cronbach das dimensões e a relação desta com a qualidade por meio da correlação linear de Pearson. Os resultados apontam que as prioridades de investimentos em melhoria deveriam ser o estacionamento, bem como, de forma geral em todos os serviços, os atributos de presteza dos funcionários e de infraestrutura. Já como pontos fortes para os dois públicos têm-se os serviços de secretaria e de academia. O artigo apresenta uma relação de ações que, se implementadas pela organização pesquisada, poderão melhorar a percepção que os stakeholders têm da qualidade dos seus serviços.

The Thai telecommunications industry has shown the substantial potential growth both in demand and investment. This industry is an important foundation of digital economy and information society,  yet it faces challenges in terms of the labour market issues, especially the shortage of ICT personnel. The companies in this industries have to compete both for business and talents. This study aims to clarify the characteristic of industrial organization, and human resource management of the Thai telecoms industry.

The industrial organization of the Thai telecommunications industry embedded with pyramid-shaped hierarchical governance; wherein each tier actor performs specific tasks and creates particular values. To deliver such values, they have to build core competence and capability as their foundational strength. All embrace the business strategy on choose and focus on the core (gravity to the core tasks), leverage (by subcontracting the non-core tasks) and manage long term relationship which based on trust and transparency. Even though each tier actor has set similar strategy on operational excellency, each area of focus is different according to kinds of technology.

The mechanism of internal labour market is increasingly important as countermeasure to the shortage of ICT personnel in the external ICT labour market. The case studies companies adopted the three practices of HRM to respond to the shortage challenges including (1) review recruitment practices, (2) broaden typical pools of talents and (3) extend training strategies which more focus on OJT.
