Social Projects

Kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan berkaitan satu program yang dianjurkan oleh Inisiatif Kewarganegaraan Malaysia, USM, iaitu Projek Warga. Melalui projek ini peserta perlu melihat permasalahan yang timbul di kalangan masyarakat setempat seterusnya mengkaji beberapa dasar yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan tersebut. Peserta projek ini terdiri dari kalangan pelajar sekolah rendah dan menengah, serta melibatkan juga peserta dari kalangan pelajar institusi pengajian tinggi. Program ini telah berjaya mewujudkan semangat ingin tahu peserta terhadap dasar-dasar kerajaan dan akta-akta berkenaan permasalahan di peringkat komuniti. Apakah projek seumpama ini mampu mengasuh remaja Malaysia terlibat dengan kerja-kerja sosial dan kesukarelawanan? Bagaimanakah peserta program ini belajar mengkaji dan mengaitkan akta dengan permasalahan setempat? Sejauh mana keberkesanan program ini ke arah membentuk generasi muda Malaysia terlibat dalam kerja sosial? Semua persoalan ini akan di terangkan melalui penulisan kertas kerja ini. Penulis akan menghuraikan secara terperinci pelaksanaan projek ini dan kesannya kepada peserta.

This paper introduces an interactive approach to support multi-criteria decision analysis of project portfolios. In high-scale strategic decision domains, scientific studies suggest that the Decision Maker (DM) can find help by using many-objective optimisation methods, which are supposed to provide values in the decision variables that generate highquality solutions. Even so, DMs usually wish to explore the possibility of reaching some levels of benefits in some objectives. Consequently, they should repeatedly run the optimisation method. However, this approach cannot perform well-in an interactive way-for large instances under the presence of many objective functions. We present a mathematical model that is based on compromise programming and fuzzy outranking to aid DMs in analysing multi-criteria project portfolios on the fly. This approach allows relaxing the problem of rapidly optimising portfolios while preserving the beneficial properties of the DM's preferences expressed by outranking relations. Our model supports the decision analysis on two instance benchmarks: for the first one, a better compromise solution was generated 84% of the runs; for the second one, this ranged from 93% to 97%. Our model was also applied to a real-world problem involving social projects, obtaining satisfactory results.

Ce travail contient une description et vision de l'auteur de comme l'enseignement du violon se passait à Bahia (Brésil) en 2015. Pour cela, l'enseignement chez le projet social/musical appelé  "Neojibá" (inspiré de "El Sistema" venezuelan)  a été choisi comme référence. Le travail traite de son structure pédagogique, style des cours, profil des professeurs, méthodes utilisés, entre autres. L'auteur présente sa vision critique et aussi des propositions aux problèmes trouvés.

This study presuppose a evaluation of the process of organizing the contents of the teaching of Art taught at social project called Cursinho UEM. The methodology was guided by an interview realized with the Cursinho coordinator and by the analysis of questions about art presented on the last vestibular proof from University Estadual of Maringá. The results highlights the need to review processes related to dialogue between preparing students for the proof and elaboration of these proofs. Therefore, we expect to contribute to discussions and decision-making in the perspective of become indeed a program guided by process of inclusion.

Essa pesquisa tem como objetivo identificar no Projeto Bairro do Futuro desenvolvido pela Fundação Pedro Paes Mendonça, em Serra do Machado/SE características de ações voltadas para Responsabilidade Social. Buscou-se conhecer e apresentar o Projeto Bairro do Futuro, e analisar a visão de seus beneficiários. Desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa com abordagem quantitativa-qualitativa de caráter descritivo e exploratório, em que foi utilizado como estratégia o estudo de caso, classificando-se como pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de campo, o instrumento de coleta de dados utilizado foi a entrevista semiestruturada. Quanto à análise dos dados coletados, os resultados mostram que na operacionalização do projeto, a FPPM seguiu todas as etapas necessárias na elaboração de um projeto além de avaliar junto aos beneficiários se os objetivos traçados foram alcançados. Portanto, a Fundação Pedro Paes Mendonça através do Projeto Bairro do Futuro, está realizando uma ação de Investimento Social Privado, no entanto o mesmo possui indicadores de uma ação de Responsabilidade Social Empresarial, porém precisa ganhar maiores proporções para ser considerado como ação de Responsabilidade Social Empresarial.

We cannot talk about sports without thinking about Peace, those two concepts are complementary manifestations, and in every field, have been together along history. On this occasion, we have in our hands a work that addresses the existing influence and relation between sports and Peace as personal and social development tools, which merge into inherent values such as respect, solidarity, teamwork and its union power, which in the end, are factors that are always looking forward for the well-being. Through different expressions, many aspects of our lives weave together into sports, which somehow, is the leading axis, a development platform of individual and group growing that has physical activation, in its different expressions, is the ideal excuse to forge and integrate societies, such as the Olympics does. Either is a recreational, formative or competitive sport, it is always inclusive. The same can be integrated it in school as part of the daily activities that young students do for health and training; as to smooth things out and achieve agreements between opposing countries. The strength of sports radicates on its universality, its ability to adapt the regulations and laws of every country and, in full digital era, its range of reaching is even higher to expanding widely any action or message thanks to the technology advances, always with the invaluable support of new generations. And as sports is education, learning, discipline, motivation, competition, solidarity... those and many other core values that also contribute to Peace, "Sports for Peace" shows us part of them and takes us to reflect on the benefits of leveraging sports as a universal language and an authentic peacemaker agent.

У книзі висвітлені основи планування дослідницьких компонентів соціальних проектів, ключові аспекти інтерв’ювання й анкетування з дослідницькою метою, а також надані поради, як представити грантодавцям проекти з дослідницькою складовою і як ефективно співпрацювати із соціологами. Формат «посібник-довідник» означає, що різні частини книги представлені як максимально самодостатні, щоб була можливість не лише послідовно опрацьовувати матеріали розділів, а й знайти відповідь на актуальне запитання за допомогою змісту й покажчиків.
У виданні пояснені типові помилки в соціальних дослідженнях і логіка вдалих дослідницьких рішень, розвінчані поширені міфи про соціологію та соціальні дослідження, зокрема про репрезентативні опитування громадської думки. Книга написана як діалог із читачами: автор дає відповіді на низку запитань, як від дуже загального «Що варто знати про соціологію та соціальні дослідження?», так і до численних спеціалізованих, як-от «Скільки й чому коштують фокус-групи? Що зменшує їхню вартість?», «Як уникнути типових помилок при формулюванні запитань анкети?», «Кому й навіщо потрібна нерепрезентативна вибірка?» та «Як переконати грантодавця в доцільності дослідницького компонента?». Хоча посібник-довідник орієнтований насамперед на читачів, активних у роботі третього сектору, його матеріал може бути корисний значно ширшій аудиторії, зокрема журналістам, студентам і викладачам-суспільствознавцям.

Jovens moradores de favelas situadas na área da Maré, zona norte do Rio de Janeiro, aprendem a praticar boxe e se tornam lutadores (amadores) desta modalidade esportiva. O presente trabalho aborda motivações que levaram alguns destes adolescentes a optar pelo boxe e identifica significados adquiridos pelo esporte no contexto de um espaço específico de treinos - o Centro Esportivo e Educacional Luta Pela Paz - que integra os programas sociais da organização não governamental Viva Rio. O foco central do estudo se volta para o encontro entre dois universos: um constituído pela experiência de vida - fundamentada em formas de pensar, representações e práticas próprias - de jovens moradores locais; outro caracterizado pela experiência coletiva construída quando estes jovens passam a freqüentar o ambiente da academia de boxe LPP. A partir deste encontro, ocorrem interações entre propostas de “mediadores externos” (no caso, objetivadas no discurso que acompanha a prática de esportes na mesma academia) e representações de jovens participantes dos treinos, estimulando a (re) elaboração de noções sobre temas que vão além da esfera esportiva, como juventude, violência, programas sociais e favela. No contexto estudado, o corpo é lugar onde a intersecção entre os dois universos citados se torna possível. Esta perspectiva leva em conta, por um lado, o fato de a adolescência ser um período de intensas transformações corporais e, por outro, o fato de a prática do boxe também provocar, inevitavelmente, modificações físicas inerentes à tal atividade esportiva. Tomada como espaço de sociabilidade, a academia onde se realizou a pesquisa de campo é também um local onde os participantes constroem diferentes formas de classificação para as expressões “luta” e “briga”. Tais categorias indicam, no contexto, possibilidades como a de obtenção de prestígio social, porém, ao mesmo tempo, demonstram a existência de posições não consensuais em relação à questão do controle da violência. A análise deste estudo se fundamenta em dados qualitativos, a saber, em representações de jovens lutadores de boxe da academia LPP, articuladas com observações de campo e pontos de vista de outros atores presentes no ambiente de pesquisa. Junto aos registros textuais, a imagem fotográfica se constituiu em um rico instrumento de pesquisa, facilitando o acesso ao contexto estudado e se tornando uma ferramenta de análise metodológica complementar.

Young people, residents of favelas located in the Maré region (a low-income neighborhood at north of Rio de Janeiro), are introduced in boxing and some of them become amateur boxers. This work aims at approaching motivations which led those adolescents to choose boxing; it also identifies meanings acquired by the sport considering the context of a particular boxing club called Fight for Peace, that is part of the non-governmental organization Viva Rio social programs. Therefore, this study is focused on the encounter between two aspects: on one hand, life experiences of those local youth, based in ways of thinking, representations and practices of their own; on another hand, the collective experience built up after the same boys and girls joined the boxing club. The encounter mentioned brings the possibility of interaction between “external mediator’s” proposals (which, in this case, gets the form of the non local based NGO social proposal related to sports practice) and representations of young people who participate in boxing trainings, stimulating the elaboration of notions about themes such as youth, violence, “project” and favela. In the context studied, the body is where these aspects converge. This perspective considers that adolescence is a period of intense body modifications and the fact that boxing also brings physical changes. Considered as a sociability space, the boxing club where the field research was made is also a place where participants develop different forms of classification for words like “fight”/”struggle” and ”boxing match”. In the context studied, these categories are related with social prestige but also show that there are no consensual opinions on the issue of violence control. The work analysis is based on qualitative data, field observation and view points of other people involved with the field research. Photographic image was also used as a research method, complementing other instruments of collecting data.

Mega-events are increasingly often taking place in countries of the Global South. In the socio-spatially deeply fragmented
host cities these spectacles encompass extremely transformative urban processes. This paper will consider the festivalisation
of Rio de Janeiro in the preparatory phase of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. It focuses on the
urban policy in relation to how Rio deals with its favelas. The aim of the article is to critically assess current measures of
‘invisibilisation’, ‘pacification’, ‘beautification’ and ‘touristic staging’ of favelas against the backdrop of the upcoming events.

Pandemi melalui kampanye #NokenForHumanity " Papua adalah surga tersembunyi di timur Nusantara.Pulau terbesar di ufuk timur Indonesia ini tak perlu diragukan lagi keindahan alam dan budayanya. Selain kaya akan budaya, Papua juga memiliki berbagai destinasi yang indah, Salah satunya adalah Kampung Rhepang muaif yang merupakan salah satu kawasan hutan untuk ekowisata (Forest for ecotourism) yang terletak di distrik Nimbokrang kabupaten Jayapura, Papua. Jarak tempuhnya berkisar 100 km dari Sentani ibu kota kabupaten Jayapura yang dapat ditempuh dengan mobil selama ± 2 jam. Kawasan hutan ini menjadi rumah bagi 84 spesies burung dari 31 famili ,bahkan dikategorikan sebagai Daerah Burung Penting karena menyediakan perlindungan bagi lima spesies yang terancam punah termasuk Casuarius unappendiculatus, Harpyopsis novaeguineae, Goura victoria, Psittaculirostris salvadorii, dan Epimachus bruijnii. Dengan luas tanah ± 98.000,00 hektar, di Kampung Rhepang Muaif-Papua terdapat 10 suku yang mendiami Kawasan hutan wisata tersebut , dimana masyarakat setempat mempunyai hak untuk mengelola kawasan hutan dan sekitarnya. Diantaranya, Demogrey, Wouw, Demotekay, Kasmando, Kekrei, bano, Tecuari, Wondo, Yenteo dan Waisimon. Mereka hidup berdampingan dalam mengelola hutan adat secara tradisional dengan mempertimbangkan kearifan lokal budaya. Selain itu, Kampung Rhepang Muaif juga memiliki Pusat Wisata Bird Watching Isyo Hills , yakni pemantauan burung cendrawasih yang sering disebut " bird of paradise" yang telah diinisiasi oleh Alex Waisimon yang merupakan perwakilan masyarakat adat di Kampung Rhepang Muaif. Berangkat dari ke khawatiranya akan keselamatan lingkungan di Papua, ia mengajak warga setempat untuk menghentikan pembalakan liar dengan membuka tempat wisata pemantauan burung cendrawasih. Hal ini telah didukung lebih dari 10 kepala suku. Oleh karena itu, kekompakan dari masyarakat setempat menjaga kelestarian hutan berdampak terhadap burung-burung cendrawasih yang menjadikan hutan yang berada di Kampung Rhepang Muaif sebagai rumah dan tempat untuk mencari makan. Tidak hanya itu, tempat ini secara ekonomi juga telah memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat setempat. Masyarakat Kampung Rhepang muaif sebagian besar bekerja sebagai petani

This paper introduces the concept of project management as an enabling skill for individuals in the process of cross-cultural transition. It explores theoretical models of cultural adaptation, research into psychological and socio-cultural impacts of cross-cultural transitions, the challenges of being a non-native English language speaker, the concept of "skills for life" training and studies on the impact of project-based learning in education. The paper provides observations from an experimental exercise in teaching project management skills to a group of non-native English language speakers. It concludes with a view on the merit of project management skills in a cross-cultural context and thoughts on further development of the concept.

In the Case we present the scenario surrounding the children life, Brazil, the Institution Neighbourhood and the Children point of view on how they are part of Institute projects.

The MdM is proud to recognize themselves as an Artistic Band, and the numbers do show they are successful in this main goal. But they reach much further than the obvious impact (of the size of their projects, numbers of Public Presentations, Partnerships and Supporters), they are engaging, offering an opportunity and fighting for changing children life reality. Their work concern not only ethics or morality, but seek to promote and connect the young generation to passion, hope and professional competency

Os jovens estão expostos a diversas vulnerabilidades no Brasil: além de serem as maiores vítimas de mortes violentas são o grupo etário com a maior taxa de desemprego. O Programa Nacional de Estímulo ao Primeiro Emprego, uma iniciativa do Governo Federal, seria reflexo de um dos maiores desafios enfrentados pelo Governo: o índice de desemprego juvenil, que chega a ser quase o dobro da taxa de desemprego em geral. Parte do PNPE, os Consórcios Sociais da Juventude, iniciados em 2004, visam auxiliar na inserção no mercado de trabalho de jovens com maior dificuldade de acesso a oportunidades de trabalho, tais como afrodescendentes, em conflito com a lei, jovens mães, entre outros. No caso do Rio de Janeiro, o CSJ já capacitou 6.677 jovens. Tais Consórcios são formados por entidades da sociedade civil, e oferecem cursos de qualificação profissional e social. Esta comunicação analisa as percepções de alguns dos participantes do CSJ no Rio de Janeiro (região metropolitana) sobre este processo de entrada no mercado do trabalho, a partir de dados levantados no Projeto Juventude, Raça e Gênero – Desafios para a inserção no mercado de trabalho, financiada pela FINEP e realizada no ano de 2007. Nesta pesquisa foram ouvidos sete dirigentes de ONGs e 25 jovens e analisados dados sócio-demográficos de seus participantes. Entre suas conclusões iniciais a pesquisa aponta que os entrevistados consideram a baixa escolaridade o principal obstáculo à inserção profissional, e neste sentido o programa tem pouca possibilidade de impactar sobre essas deficiências. No entanto, existem outras barreiras para esses jovens, como a falta de conhecimento sobre as regras sociais do mundo do trabalho, e assim o projeto é bem sucedido por dar-lhes o ”capital social” necessário para este momento.

Esta comunicação apresenta alguns resultados do meu projeto de pesquisa "Juventude e criminalidade urbana no Rio de Janeiro: representações e intervenções sobre um 'problema'”. O objetivo do projeto é compreender como os jovens habitantes de territórios periféricos engajam-se na produção de imagens sobre seus locais de moradia e sobre si mesmos, em organizações sociais atuantes nas suas localidades, e como essas novas representações se distanciam ou se aproximam das representações hegemônicas, particularmente as expostas nas páginas de jornais impressos e nos diversos blogs (de moradores de favelas, policiais, etc.) existentes na internet que discutem o tema. Nesse sentido, procuro compreender sobre que representações das favelas e de seus moradores a discussão sobre a Segurança Pública no Rio de Janeiro está sendo construída, buscando como pontos de referência a produção interna das favelas (a 'autorrepresentação'2) e a produção externa 'sobre' as favelas, acessível através da produção audiovisual e da mídia impressa e digital3. Busco argumentar nesta comunicação que, ainda que esses espaços configurem uma arena importante de atuação pública e de participação, o formato de atuação através de “projetos sociais” – formato por excelência de atuação das ONGs – impõe sérias limitações à ação coletiva dos moradores de favelas, em função das regras para se ter sucesso dentro do “mercado de projetos sociais”.

В статье анализируется система взаимодействия бизнес-организаций, некоммерческих организаций и государственных структур. Авторы выявляют уровни и формы этого взаимодействия в современных российских условиях, сравнивают модели социальной ответственности бизнеса, сложившиеся в США и Европе, определяя специфику отечественного варианта реализации модели социально ответственного поведения бизнес-организаций. Особое внимание в статье уделяется анализу положения некоммерческих организаций в системе социального партнерства, анализируется опыт поддержки НКО в Волгоградской области, дается оценка уровня развития социального предпринимательства и проблем его развития, формулируется вывод о том, что некоммерческие организации обладают значительным инновационным потенциалом.

As cities strain under a growing population and demand for resources, Brazil will provide a test case for how politicians, architects and urban planners can work together with local stakeholders to improve living conditions in informal settlements without upsetting their social structures. Against the backdrop of recent and exemplary developments in Brazilian public policy and slum-upgrading practices, Building Brazil! suggests a proactive approach to the favela that opens up the existing urban fabric to architectural and urban interventions.

Shifting between micro and macro levels of analysis, Building Brazil! investigates the way forward for the favelas of Jardim Colombo, Heliópolis, Cidade Ipava and Rio das Pedras. Practical design solutions for informal, risk-prone areas are situated within overarching urban strategies; and context-specific projects are complemented by editorials on the spatial, social and financial dynamics of the informal Brazilian city.
