Amaç: 2007 - 2015 yılları arasında arazide karşılaşılan, hakkında kısıtlı da olsa veriler edinilen memelilere ilişkin bilginin paylaşılması mevcut çalışmanın amacını teşkil etmektedir. Bu veriler, fotoğraflar, kısmen düzenli olarak kaydedilmiş veriler ve kısa notlar olarak sunulmuştur. Bildiriye numaralandırılmış bir isim verilmesi sayesinde çalışmaların tekrarlı hale getirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.
    Gereçler ve Yöntemler: Çalışma kapsamında, karşılaşılmış 9 memeli organizmanın (Sciurus vulgaris, Sus scrofa, Vulpes vulpes, Martes sp., Tursiops truncatus, bir Chiroptera üyesi, Erinaceus concolor, Lutra lutra ve Meles meles), 3 ilde (Aydın, Denizli ve Muğla) bulundukları yerler harita üzerinde gösterilmiş, karşılaşma tarihleri, koordinatları, bulunuş şekilleri ve birey sayıları kaydedilmiştir. Ayrıca her organizmaya ait görsellerle çalışma zenginleştirilmiştir. İhbarlarla gelen bilgiler sayesinde veriler desteklenmiştir. Aktif saha çalışmalarının gerçekleştirilmesinde hem profesyonel fotoğraf makinalarından hem de fotokapan kullanım yöntemlerinden yararlanılmıştır.
    Sonuç: Çalışmanın çıktıları değerlendirildiğinde, türlerin bulunuşlarının zorluğu dikkat çekmektedir. Ayrıca Meles meles gibi bazı türlerin ölü olarak bulunması gibi sorunların varlığı göze çarpmaktadır. Bu bakış açısı geliştirildiğinde, ülkemizde yapılacak kapsamlı mamalojik çalışmaların önemi ön plana çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmalara ait sonuçların, söz konusu organizmalarla iç içe yaşam süren yöre insanları ile paylaşılması bilim insanlarının yükümlülüğüdür.

Reexamination of Sciurotamias gromovi from the upper Miocene of Ukraine stimulated revision of Sinotamias, a problematic Neogene sciurid of uncertain affinities and previously documented only from the middle-upper Miocene of Asia. A reanalysis of the Ukrainian material and other morphologically similar taxa shows Sinotamias to be a member of the xerine tribe Marmotini. Sciurotamias gromovi and Tamias atsali are shown to be members of Sinotamias. Tamias anatoliensis from the upper Miocene of Turkey is a junior subjective synonym of Sinotamias primitivus. Sinotamias minutus and Sinotamias maximus are excluded from the genus. The latter species is referred to Kherem. Prospermophilus is synonymized with Sinotamias. Phylogenetic analysis of 23 xerine genera using 66 craniodental characters places Sinotamias among the basal Marmotina as a sister group to the living members of the subtribe. The species of the genus are united by obliquely striated lower incisors, posteriorly expanded metaconules of M1-2, and posteriorly tapered ectolophid of m1-2. The late Oligocene-early Miocene Asian genus Plesiosciurus, previously classified in the sciurid subfamily Sciurinae, is instead a member of the Marmotini and is recovered as the sister taxon to Miospermophilus and Sinotamias. The genera Ammospermophilus, Cynomys, Marmota, Miospermophilus, Paenemarmota, Plesiosciurus, Sinotamias, and Spermophilus s.l. form a monophyletic subtribe Marmotina, supported by the absence of the mesoconid in m1-3. Miospermophilus is identified as the basal-most member of this group of genera, suggesting a Nearctic origin for the Marmotina. Sinotamias, considered to be a descendant of Plesiosciurus, appears to have originated in Asia and entered Europe around 8.5 Ma.

The musculature of the shoulder, arm, and forearm was studied in 19 genera of squirrels, representing the Pteromyinae (flying squirrels) and all 7 tribes of the Sciurinae (tree and ground squirrels). The objective was to locate derived anatomical features of functional or phylogenetic significance and to determine how much morphological variation underlies the diverse locomotor behavior of squirrels, which includes terrestrial and arboreal bounding, climbing, digging, and gliding. The fossil evidence suggests that arboreality is primitive for squirrels, and in fact tree squirrels appear to represent the primitive sciurid morphology. Ground squirrels are less uniform and exhibit a few derived features, including a clavobrachialis muscle not seen in other squirrels. The Indonesian island of Sulawesi has a complex geological history. It is composed of several landmasses that have arrived at a near modern configuration only in the past few million years. It is the largest island in the biodiversity hotspot of Wallacea-an area demarcated by the biogeographic breaks between Wallace's and Lydekker's lines. The mammal fauna of Sulawesi is transitional between Asian and Australian faunas. Sulawesi's three genera of squirrels, all endemic (subfamily Nannosciurinae: Hyosciurus, Rubrisciurus and Prosciurillus), are of Asian origin and have evolved a variety of phenotypes that allow a range of ecological niche specializations. Squirrel remains are rare in the fossil record, which hampers a properly documented inter-pretation of their evolutionary history. The Late Miocene sciurids from Moncucco Torinese(NW Italy) are described based on a diverse tooth assemblage. The data presented hereinconfirm the presence of Sciurus warthae and Pliopetaurista pliocaenica, and also include thefirst unquestionable occurrence of Hylopetes hungaricus plus an indeterminate Sciurinae.The report of Sciurus warthae from Moncucco Torinese represents the earliest record ofthe genus Sciurus in Europe. Moreover, Moncucco Torinese is the first European localityrecording the co-occurrence of Sciurini and Pteromyini in the Late Miocene. Comparativeanalyses support a close relationship between S. warthae and Sciurus vulgaris corrobo-rating the hypothesis of an earliest divergence of the “Sciurus vulgaris clade” in the LateMiocene. Biochronological, paleobiogeographical and paleoecological implications are alsodiscussed.

Les sciuridés duMiocène supérieur de Moncucco Torinese, Italie du Nord-Ouest, sont décrits ici sur la basede restes dentaires plutôt diversifiés. Les données présentées ici confirment la présencede Sciurus warthae et Pliopetaurista pliocaenica, et incluent aussi la première occurrence deHylopetes hungaricus en Italie, plus un taxon indéterminé. La présence de Sciurus warthaeà Moncucco Torinese représente la documentation la plus ancienne du genre Sciurus enEurope. En outre, Moncucco Torinese est la première localité européenne qui enregistrel’occurrence simultanée de Sciurini et de Pteromyini dans le Miocène supérieur. A survey of ectoparasites was carried out during Eco-Zoonoses Expedition in Bukit Aup Jubilee Park (BAJP), Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo from 5(th) to 9(th) June 2008. A total of nine individuals comprising two species of rodents were captured. The species of rodents screened for ectoparasites were Sundamys muelleri and Callosciurus notatus. Four genera and six species of ectoparasites were collected, namely, Ixodes granulatus, Ixodes sp., Laelaps sedlaceki, Laelaps nuttalli, Hoplopleura dissicula and Listrophoroides sp. Three species of the ectoparasites are known to have potential health risk. The species were Ixodes granulatus, Laelaps nuttalli and Hoplopleura dissicula. This survey produced the first list of ectoparasites in Bukit Aup Jubilee Park, Sarawak, Malaysia.

A hormonal-challenge protocol was used to compare the stress response of males of Arctic ground squirrels and red squirrels during the breeding season (May). These squirrels live in the same boreal forest of the Yukon, but have very different life histories and utilize the forest in markedly different ways. Red squirrels had levels of total cortisol, maximum corticosteroid-binding capacity, and free cortisol that were 5, 7, and 2 times, respectively, those of Arctic ground squirrels. Red squirrels were resistant to suppression by an artificial glucocorticoid, dexamethasone (DEX); Arctic ground squirrels were not. Cortisol levels in red squirrels responded slowly but continuously to the ACTH injection; Arctic ground squirrels responded rapidly and then stabilized. Testosterone levels in red squirrels were extremely sensitive to the challenge, being suppressed by both DEX and ACTH; levels in Arctic ground squirrels were resistant to the challenge, being modestly suppressed by DEX and ...

The present study was conducted on bats from different locations in Turkey. Of 33 bats, belonging to 10 species, 10 individuals (30.3%) of four species were infected with gamasine mites. Fifty-three mites belonging to 2 families (Spinturnicidae and Macronyssidae) were collected. The spinturnicid Spinturnix myoti (Kolenati) was the most abundant species (27 specimens) and only recorded n Myotis nattereri (Kuhl). The species Steatonyssus periblepharus (Kolenati) and the genera Steatonyssus, Macronyssus and Ancystropus are reported from Turkey for the first time, while new host and distributional data are presented.
