Most educational institutions' administrators are concerned about student irregular attendance. Truancies can affect student overall academic performance. The conventional method of taking attendance by calling names or signing on paper is very time consuming and insecure, hence inefficient. Therefore, computer based student attendance management system is required to assist the faculty and the lecturer for this time-provide much convenient method to take attendance, but some prerequisites has to be done before start using the program. The present study compares the features, modules and technical aspects of two common and popular Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) Software, i.e. Koha and e-Granthalaya. The study aims to find the common and special features among both software and find the most suitable software for particular libraries. A checklist comprising several parameters like technical specifications and requirements, functional modules, general features, specific features, module integration, and many more were tabulated for comparison. The study found that Koha has more specific features than e-Granthalaya. Some modules in Koha are superior to those in e-Granthalaya, like the acquisition module, which is simpler and more user-friendly, and Koha has an advanced OPAC system. Although, e-Granthalaya outperforms Koha regarding cataloguing, circulation, and serial management. The study also recommends further improvement in e-Granthalaya. The study also revealed the literature and research gap on e-Granthalaya which opens the scope of future study on e-Granthalaya software and its comparison with other software.

Libraries like every other profession has been obstructed by technological innovations like Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS). ILMS offers numerous benefits and serves as a powerful tool for libraries to efficiently manage their resources, operations and services. Koha as an example of open-source integrated library management software has gained popularity among academic libraries all over the world, Nigeria not left behind. However, with the numerous advantages, low or partial automation was found, of which several studies have been done to delineate the reasons. The study, adopting descriptive survey research design, investigated organizational factors as predictor for motivation to use Koha Integrated Library Management Software in Southwest Universities, Nigeria. The population for this study consists of all the three hundred and eight (308) librarians from all the 22 libraries of universities in Southwest Nigeria that use Koha library management software. From the study population, 175 were sampled using Krejce and Morgan sampling table with an approximate 70% response rate. The study found that organizational factors have significant influence on motivation to use Koha ILMS (Adj. R 2 = 0. 254, F(1,118) = 41.429, p = 0.000). The study concluded that Koha ILMS is compatible with library operations. Therefore, the study suggests that both library management and the university management should ensure adequate availability of infrastructures that allow for effective utilization of library oriented technological innovations like ILMS.

This study examined perceptions and attitudes towards the uses of manual and automated catalogues among undergraduate students with a focus on three selected university libraries in North Central Nigeria, namely the University of Abuja Library, Abuja, Federal University of Technology Minna Library, Niger State and Kwara State University Library, Malete. The research design used in this study is a descriptive survey. The research population comprises the total number of undergraduate students registered with each of the libraries of the three selected universities in North Central, Nigeria. The University of Abuja Library had two thousand and seventeen (2,017) registered users, Federal University of Technology Minna, Library had two thousand four hundred and forty (2,440), and Kwara State University Malete library had four thousand eight hundred and
twenty-four (4,824). This brings the total number of undergraduate library users registered with the three university libraries to 9,281. The sample size for the study was established using the random sampling table published by Israel in 1992. The table provided 200 for a population of 10,000 at ±7% Precision level and 95% confidence level. Therefore, 200 respondents were selected randomly which represent a cross-section of the population in each of the three selected universities in North Central. The instrument used to collect data was a structurally designed questionnaire. To ensure clarity of expressions and appropriateness of language used, the instrument went through face validation from some lecturers in library and information science in the selected universities. Reliability Test measurement yielded a value of 0.71 for Cronbach’s Alpha. A total number of two hundred (200) copies of the questionnaire were distributed randomly to the selected samples from the three selected institutions. Out of this, one hundred and twenty (120) copies, forty from each university library, were successfully filled, retrieved and found usable for the analysis, giving a response rate of 60%. The data generated from the questionnaire were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results were then presented in tabular forms and charts using simple percentages and frequency counts to facilitate a better understanding of the proportions in terms of particular responses. The study concluded that undergraduate students in the three selected university libraries prefer OPAC over the card catalogue; and that despite the availability of the OPAC many students still patronized the card catalogue, which means that in terms of patronage the gap between the OPAC and card catalogue is not that much. A periodic user education program for undergraduate students should be organized by the library management. This will give them the knowledge and abilities they need to find books and other information resources in the library using the card catalogue and OPAC as an effective searching tool.

It is used in supply chain management in tracking the movement of inventories, equipments,devices and others. Most libraries automate the tracking of books and documents by utilizing the RFID technology in managing the movements of books from shelves and others. Objective. The purpose of the article is to study the problems of implementing IT technologies in university libraries of Ukraine in the context of foreign experience. The article examines the retrospective of development of library information systems, their effectiveness and problematic issues related to the transition of library staff to work with them. Methods. When writing the article, the review, comparative, and historical methods were used to summarize the research on the development of library information systems and to choose a sufficiently effective and convenient system among ILS (Integrated Library System), LSP (Library Service Platform), LMS (Library Management System) or LIMS (Library Information Management System) for domestic university libraries. Results. The article provides a periodization of the development of library systems from 1931 till 2022. Problematic issues for Ukrainian university libraries related to the replacement of software tools with modern software products are identified. Specialists of higher education libraries are suggested to use the web-resource "Library Technology Guides" to select the latest innovative automated library systems with their subsequent configuration. Conclusions. As a result, the ILS Koha is proposed as more adapted system in terms of financial costs and possibility of its further maintenance by existing specialists.

The study analyses the awareness about koha among LIS professionals and assesses the challenges in implementing and using koha. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 167 LIS professionals. The study concludes that library must appoint or hire a professional having sound technical skills in order to minimize the error handling and dependency on others for addressing koha related issues. LIS professionals have to upgrade their knowledge by attending training programs, workshops, and spend more time on practicing the technical part of koha.
