This study appraised the implementation of Koha software in Acharya Pharmacy Library & Information Center to automate its library operations by using Koha open-source software Integrated Library Management System (ILMS). The Koha is a widely used library software. It has provisions for all library operations. The library automation enabled the library staff to manage library resources efficiently, including Acquisitions, cataloguing, patron profiles, serial control and inventory management. With Koha web OPAC now, users can easily search for the books and other materials available in the library, track their circulation history, renew books, reserve books and send online requisitions. The web-based interface of Koha allows for remote access to the system, enabling users to access resources from anywhere and anytime, 24/7. The koha has also provided the library staff with advanced report capabilities. Enabling them to generate detailed reports on circulation, inventory, Periodicals, overdue, patron activity etc. Overall, The implementation of Koha Library software has enabled ABMRCP Library & Information Center to improve its library services, providing better access to information and resources for its users/patrons.

The software implementation enabled the library staff to efficiently  manage library resources, including cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and  inventory management. With Koha, employees can now easily search for books  and other materials, track their circulation history, and reserve items online. The  web-based interface of Koha allows for remote access to the system, enabling users  to access library resources from anywhere. Information retrieval in libraries, regardless of their size or type, has primarily focused on textual search, neglecting the significant advancements in digital information representation and retrieval such as image search, multimedia retrieval, multilingual retrieval, integrated discovery search, and other related areas like geodetic search. Geodetic search refers to a type of search functionality that incorporates geographic coordinates and spatial data in information retrieval systems. It utilizes coordinates, such as latitude and longitude, to identify and retrieve relevant data associated with particular places or regions and can be particularly useful in domains where location plays a significant role in retrieval, such as documentary resources on geography, geology, environmental sciences, urban planning, and travel. This paper aims to augment the information retrieval capabilities of a typical library retrieval system by integrating geodetic search functionalities. The proposed prototype framework utilizes VuFind, an open-source library discovery software based on Solr, as the retrieval system. It incorporates Leaflet, an open-source JavaScript library for interactive maps, and OpenStreetMap as the cartographic data provider, which is available under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL). The prototype deploys the indexing of coordinate data (longitude, latitude and bounding box) for a given set of MARC records using the tag 034, subfields d, e, f, g, and h (specific to different place names of India) in Koha, and then extends the geodetic search facility in VuFind by harvesting indexed MARC records from Koha.

Open Source Software (OSS) provides a new way for the construction and presentation of information collections of libraries in the age of ICT (information, communication and technology). OSS are free and offer effective full-text searching and metadata-based browsing facilities that are attractive and easy to use. This paper has made an attempt to highlight the main issues of OSS. It also describes some of the important OSSs, being presently used all over the world in libraries and information centres, and also explores the important characteristics and features of the software.

The present paper discusses the status of library automation among the Al-Ameen Educational Society's group of institutions in Bengaluru. The Al-Ameen Educational Society (AES) is one of the leading educational institutions in India. It has 50 plus years of legacy in the field of education. The present paper mainly focuses on the readiness of the library management software, applicability, utility, and services provided through LMS. All libraries in the AES group institutions are using modules like cataloging, circulation, and acquisitions. Fewer libraries are using digital resource management from the respective LMS, and they are yet to start DRM services for the users. It is found that even within the group of institutions using different library automation software, their level of satisfaction towards the software is excellent.

This paper shows the status of library automation of Engineering College libraries in Nadia District, West Bengal. Here we have also discussed the software used, technique of data entry, collection status, etc. It has also discussed whether a college completed automation in all sections or not and type of problems they have faced. From this study we can say that automation status of Engineering College libraries in Nadia District, West Bengal is quite good but digitization condition is very poor.

Background of the study: The study investigated the use and perception of Online Public Catalogue (OPAC) by users in academic libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria. Purpose: The study adopted descriptive survey research method were a total number of 203 questionnaires were distributed amongst library users in both selected academic libraries. A simple random sampling technique was used for this study. Method: The descriptive analysis was used to analyze the collected data using frequency counts and simple percentages. Findings: The study revealed that majority of the respondents is aware of the existence and availability of OPAC. Although a very small percent of respondents in Unilorin and Kwara State Polytechnic got their awareness of OPAC through the library. The study also revealed that an average percent of respondents in both institutions can make use of the library OPAC effectively. The paper aims to discuss the process of KOHA implementation in Government College University (GCU) Libraries Lahore, while replacing the Library Management Software (LMS) implemented in 1999.
