A nivel mundial, nos encontramos frente a una rápida expansión
de la COVID-19, sus efectos sociales y económicos llevaron a
la OMS a declararla pandemia desde marzo del presente año.
Muchos gobiernos implementaron políticas de aislamiento
social, cierre de establecimientos y eventos públicos. Estas
disposiciones están llevando a la sociedad a nuevos escenarios
para resolver estos desafíos y aceleran la transformación digital
de las empresas.

El presente trabajo está basado en el desarrollo de una plataforma
IIoT que permita el monitoreo y la operación remota de sistemas
de control de velocidad de motores trifásicos desde cualquier
equipo o dispositivo móvil conectado al internet. Las medidas
proporcionadas por el dispositivo remoto son transmitidas a
través de un protocolo de comunicación industrial a una puerta
de enlace o Gateway Industrial IIoT que a su vez transmite la
información hacia un servicio web alojado en la nube.

El desarrollo de la plataforma integra diferentes tecnologías como
automatización, redes de comunicación y desarrollo de software,
permitiendo una experiencia multidisciplinaria en la búsqueda de
soluciones aplicando Industria 4.0 (I 4.0).

The current US administration has laid out a series of Space Policy Directives intended to reaffirm American preeminence in space in general and human space activity in particular. The directives provide a clear mandate to NASA to quickly return humans to the Moon with the clear intent to gain vital know-how to execute a long duration, endurance-class Mars expedition in the 2030s timeframe. Long duration interplanetary transit requires closing several critical knowledge gaps and retiring many risks involved with both crew safety and human factors as well as long duration vehicle systems engineering for deep space operations. NASA's lunar orbiting Gateway project evolved from these directives in order to create an architecture to eventually support interplanetary spaceflight. In March 2019, the space policy of the US administration advanced the timeline for execution, directing NASA to land a woman and a man on the Moon by 2024. In response, NASA initiated Project Artemis in May. NASA has been targeting the south polar region for such a mission and studying options to integrate lunar landing options in the Gateway program. Through a creative collaboration with small private space companies with innovative ideas, the Commercial Lunar Payload Services(CLPS) program is designed to fly robotic precursor missions to provide NASA with lunar information ahead of astronaut activity. In 2019, on the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing, the studio chose to look for fresh, new ideas that support policy, while drawing attention to new and age-old customs and sensitivities our species seem to resonate with, that were not within the traditional domain of the scientific and engineering communities, at least not until recently. As scientific and engineering methods are employed to better appreciate and shape outcomes of those soft, anthropological, sociological, cultural and behavioral science disciplines, human spaceflight could pioneer the use of these values and tools to enhance human spaceflight projects, create a globally compelling and wholesome narrative, and promote developments in other hard technological arenas of endeavor as well. Following the 2018 USC ADAM project that was presented at the 2019 IAC in Washington DC., the 2019 USC ARTEMIS Maximum Impact Moon(MAXIM) Mission Project chose to pay tribute to a unique group of high-achieving engineers and scientists and astronaut explorers who created and executed the Apollo program with such daring and precision. They went on to repeat the feat over and over, even succeeding in the face of peril, and in the process, caught the awe of the whole world, while paving the way to making us a truly space faring species. Great civilizations and cultures of the world actively seek to preserve and protect their heritage. Preserving human space culture, especially the first excursions of our species on an extraterrestrial surface, is very important for our youthful nation as it must be for all humanity who cherish and yearn for freedom of thought and expression around the world since the vastness and resources of outer space presents the ultimate arena for it. As a step toward that goal, this USC ARTEMIS Project chose to examine, study and deploy methods to protect those Apollo sites on our Moon visited by Apollo astronauts, and to preserve the Apollo artifacts on our Moon, from natural degradation, and protect them from present and future artificial agents, for posterity. Synopses of topics chosen by the 2019 Fall Graduate Space Concepts Studio follow the theme above and are presented as sections in the following programmatic report of this USC ARTEMIS: Maximum Impact Moon(MAXIM) Moon mission proposes a wholesome, globally acceptable program in a speedy lunar return of humans to the Moon, that pays tribute to the heroes of the Apollo era who put the first humans on the Moon.

Tasmania hangs from the map of Australia like a drop in freefall from the substance of the mainland. Often the whole state is mislaid from Australian maps and logos (Reddit). Tasmania has, at least since
federation, been considered peripheral—a region seen as isolated, a ‘problem’ economically, politically, and culturally. However, Tasmania not only cleaves to the ‘north island’ of Australia but is also subject to
the gravitational pull of an even greater land mass—Antarctica. In this article, we upturn the political conventions of map-making that place both Antarctica and Tasmania in obscure positions at the base of
the globe. We show how a changing global climate re-frames Antarctica and the Southern Ocean as key drivers of worldwide environmental shifts. The liquid and solid water between Tasmania and Antarctica
is revealed not as a homogenous barrier, but as a dynamic and relational medium linking the Tasmanian archipelago with Antarctica. When Antarctica becomes the focus, the script is flipped: Tasmania is no
longer on the edge, but core to a network of gateways into the southern land. The state’s capital of Hobart can from this perspective be understood as an “Antarctic city”, central to the geopolitics, economy,
and culture of the frozen continent (Salazar et al.). Viewed from the south, we argue, Tasmania is not a problem, but an opportunity for a form of ecological, cultural, economic, and political sustainability that
opens up the southern continent to science, discovery, and imagination.

In the near future, all our everyday things and objects will be both connected to the Internet and equipped with enough sensing, acting and processing capabilities to exploit the full potential benefits of the so called Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm. Even the simplest objects will become " smart " because they will be interconnected to other objects to share and collect data from the environments in which they are placed thus paving the way to novel application services, computing and communication scenarios. In this context, interoperability among different standards and communication technologies is still a significant challenge that we have started to address by proposing a smartphone-based mobile gateway acting as a flexible and transparent interface between different IoT devices and the Internet. The presented unified, high-level and extendible software architecture supports opportunistic IoT devices discovery, control and management coupled with data processing, collection and diffusion functionalities. A specific testbed on common smartphones with different hardware and software capabilities was deployed to evaluate the real feasibility of the designed solution measuring the system performance in terms of energy consumption, memory and CPU usage in high and low load scenarios. According to the obtained results, the implemented software architecture for multi-standard and multi-technology interoperation presents a reduced use of hardware resources in front of a relatively high energy consumption value, mostly due to the simultaneously active radio interfaces combined with a small battery capacity, that limits the smartphone lifetime. Nevertheless, the presented general approach is still remarkable because this latter aspect will most likely be exceeded, in a short time, thanks to daily technological advancements in both batteries and radio interfaces.
