В публикации вводится в научный оборот записка председателя Совета по делам Русской православной церкви Г. Г. Карпова о встрече патриарха Московского и всея Руси Алексия (Симанского) с представителями греческой политической эмиграции в Египте в июне 1945 г. Встреча состоялась в ходе масштабного визита делегации Русской церкви на Ближний Восток и в Египет. Во время нахождения патриарха в Александрии его посетили бывший глава греческого правительства в изгнании Софоклос Венизелос и бывший вице-премьер этого правительства Георгиос Русос. Их визит, по сути, был попыткой либеральных политических деятелей Греции установить контакт с советским руководством при посредничестве предстоятеля Русской церкви.

The publication introduces into scientific circulation a note by G. G. Karpov, Chairman of the Council for the Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church, on the meeting ofPatriarch Alexy (Simansky) of Moscow and All Russia with representatives of the Greek political emigration in Egypt in June 1945. The meeting took place during a large-scale visit of a delegation of the Russian Church to the Middle East and Egypt. While the patriarch was in Alexandria, he was visited by the former head of the Greek government in exile, Sofoklos Venizelos, and the former deputy prime minister of that government, Georgios Roussos. Their visit, in fact, was an attempt by liberal political figures inGreece to establish contact with the Soviet leadership through the mediation of thePrimate of the Russian Church.

Ἡ περίοδος πού ἐξετάζουμε εἶναι ἐποχή ἔντονων δοκιμασιῶν καί δεινῶν γιά τόν Ἄθωνα, ὅπως εἶναι ἡ πρώτη περίοδος πού ἀκολούθησε τό ξέσπασμα τῆς Ἑλληνικῆς Ἐπαναστάσεως καί ἡ ἐπακόλουθη κατοχή τοῦ ἱεροῦ τόπου ἀπό τόν τουρκικό στρατό (1821-1830) ἀλλά καί ἐποχή ἀνοικοδομήσεως, στή συνέχεια, τῶν ἀθωνικῶν καθιδρυμάτων, καθώς καί ἀνακάμψεως καί καλύτερης ὀργανώσεως τοῦ τόπου, κατά τήν μετεπαναστατική περίοδο, πού ἀκολούθησε τήν ἀπόσυρση τοῦ τουρκικοῦ στρατοῦ (1830).    ΣτΌ πρῶτο μέρος τῆς μελέτης ἐπιχειρεῖται μιά σύντομη περιδιάβαση στό Ἅγιον Ὄρος τῆς ἐνδιαφέρουσας ἐκείνης ἐποχῆς προκειμένου νά προσεγγιστεῖ καλύτερα τό φαινόμενο τῶν Νεομαρτύρων, πού βρίσκεται στό ἐπίκεντρο τῆς  μελέτης.
  Σήμερα ἡ ἔρευνα γύρω ἀπό τούς Νεομάρτυρες καί εἰδικότερα γιά τούς ὅσους ἀπό αὐτούς μαρτύρησαν ἐπί Τουρκοκρατίας, κρατεῖ ἀμείωτο τό ἐνδιαφέρον τῶν μελετητῶν καί ἡ σχετική βιβλιογραφία ὅλο καί περισσότερο ἐμπλουτίζεται μέ νέα στοιχεῖα πού προκύπτουν ἀπό αὐτήν. Στό πλαίσιο αὐτό, νέα, ἄγνωστα τίς περισσότερες φορές ἁγιολογικά κείμενα, Μαρτύρια καί Ἀκολουθίες, τῆς μεταβυζαντινῆς κυρίως περιόδου, βλέπουν τό φῶς τῆς δημοσιότητας, συμβάλλοντας στή μελέτη τόσο τοῦ φαινομένου τῶν Νεομαρτύρων ὅσο καί τῆς περαιτέρω λειτουργικῆς τους τιμῆς.     
    Τό Ἅγιον Ὄρος ἔχει τή μερίδα του στήν ἱστορία τῶν Νεομαρτύρων καί γενικά στήν ἀνάδειξη νεοφανῶν Μαρτύρων τῆς Ἐκκλησίας, μιά πού ὁ Ἀθωνικός Μοναχισμός ἀνέδειξε καί αὐτόν τόν τύπο τοῦ ἁγίου. Τουλάχιστον τό ἕνα τρίτο τῶν νεομαρτύρων τῆς Ἐκκλησίας εἶναι Ἁγιορεῖτες ἤ πνευματικά τέκνα ἁγιορειτῶν Πατέρων, ἀπό τούς ὁποίους «προαλείφθηκαν», καθοδηγήθηκαν καί προετοιμάσθηκαν δηλαδή γιά τό μαρτύριο
Παρατίθεται ἐπίσης ἕνας διευρυμένος (μέ βάση τή νεότερη ἔρευνα) Κατάλογος Ἁγιορειτῶν νεομαρτύρων πού μαρτύρησαν κατά τή διάρκεια τῆς Τουρκοκρατίας.

Rezumat: Această lucrare îşi propune sa ilustreze, folosind metoda analizei de discurs, modul în care contextul reprezentat de relaţiile inter-ortodoxe a avut un anumit rol în decizia Bisericii Ortodoxe Române de a-şi (re)organiza structurile ecleziale din străinătate după 1990. Folosind drept studii de caz contextele din Franţa şi Italia, ipoteza de la care porneşte acest studiu este aceea că, fără a fi singura explicaţie a deciziei Bisericii Ortodoxe Române de a-şi (re)organiza infrastructura instituţională, concurenţa cu alte Biserici Ortodoxe pentru jurisdicţia asupra comunităţilor de români ortodocşi a avut un rol stimulator. In July 1504, Stephen III of Moldavia, the only Greek rite crusader of Rome and Venice after the fall of Byzantium, died (by the 1570s, he was worshiped as a purely Orthodox saint). The combats with Mehmed II had been the source of his fame. In the early 1520s, a well-trained Jewish scholar and administrator from Venetian Crete, Elijah Capsali (c. 1485-c. 1550), wrote that the Jews had been the cause of the (first) war between Stephen and Mehmed (1473/1474-1479/1480). Persecuted by Stephen, they had turned to the sultan, who immediately left against the Moldavian tyrant.

Quelque peu oublié aujourd’hui, le prêtre orthodoxe russe Vitalij Borovoj (1916-2008) a été, pendant des décennies, l’une des figures clés des relations extérieures du Patriarcat de Moscou et un pionnier du dialogue interchrétien. Théologien et historien de l’Église de formation, diplomate ecclésiastique par obéissance, Borovoj a représenté l’Église russe au Conseil œcuménique des Églises à Genève et au Concile Vatican II. Sur la base de diverses sources, l’auteur analyse la personnalité, la pensée et la carrière d’un homme qui a servi à l’époque soviétique, lorsque « Dieu était esclave de César ».

La famille Stratimirović est l’une des plus anciennes familles nobles de Serbie qui existe sans interruption du Moyen Âge jusqu’à nos jours. En subsistant pendant des siècles, elle a conservé son nom, sa langue et sa religion durant les moments diffciles dans la région des Balkans, dangereuse depuis toujours. Les Stratimirović ont démontré par leurs vies les valeurs auxquelles ils croyaient et, si le besoin se
faisait, ils savaient se mettre à la tête de leur peuple et conduire celuici à travers des malheurs et des épreuves diverses. L’affliation de la famille à la noblesse serbe médiévale était confrmée et redonnée par la République de Venise, la monarchie des Habsbourg, l’Empire russe et l’Empire ottoman, en raison de ses mérites militaires mais aussi de sa loyauté à l’Etat. Au sein de cette famille se sont développés plusieurs personnages célèbres qui ont laissé une trace profonde surtout dans l’histoire du peuple serbe. Aujourd’hui affaiblie et peu nombreuse, sans une grande influence en ce qui concerne le pouvoir temporel et laïc, la famille inspire encore un grand respect, surtout dans la partie nationale consciente, et en particulier dans les cercles autour de l’Église orthodoxe serbe.

Crusading and Church Union are two of the most debated medieval
concepts. In the former ‘borderlands of Christendom’ they have also peculiar modern nationalist meanings. Like modern nationalism, both were coined outside of the borderlands, in the great centers of civilization Rome and Constantinople. At the end of the Middle Ages, the two centres and systems underwent dramatic crisis that altered their fate for good. The Papacy experienced its ‘Babylonian captivity’, whereas Byzantium, eroded by Latins, Greeks and Muslims alike, turned into the ‘small empire’ that fell in 1453. These evolutions increased the ‘freedoms’ of the borderlands. Between the Angevine supremacy of the 1300s and the great ‘Oriental’, respectively ‘European’ rise of the House of Habsburg, respectively of the Ottoman Empire, East-Central Europe (i.e. Christendom’s south-eastern borderlands) underwent a series of changes that equally support ‘the survival of the Middle Ages’ and ‘the dawn of the Modern Age’. The studies collected in this volume attempt to recapture these contradictory features and provide a wide range of explanations for some of the ‘paradoxes’.

A draft resolution is being introduced into scientific circulation, which was to be adopted by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1950. The ruling could have a significant impact on the church situation in the world and give the supporters of the Moscow Patriarchate new arguments against the North American Metropolis, the Western European Exarchate and the Russian Church Abroad. If the document was adopted and the Moscow Patriarchate was supported by the state, this document could help it get real estate abroad (including the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on Rue Daru in Paris) or at least part of them. The document assumed subordination to the Patriarch of Moscow of all Russian dioceses and parishes. Against the background of the communist state's desire to use the Moscow Patriarchate in its foreign policy activities, the document, it would seem, should have received approval from the Council for the Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. However, no such statement followed. There were several reasons. First of all, the state did not want to interfere in property lawsuits around the world, which required large financial investments. Also by 1950, the Soviet state became disillusioned with the foreign policy role of the Moscow Patriarchate and launched a new offensive against it. The strengthening of the Church in the circumstances of that time was not beneficial to the state.

After the failure of the uprising in Moldovlachia, Alexandros Ypsilantis, arrived in the Habsburg Empire. Under orders of Chancellor Metternich, he was imprisoned in the Mukachevo fortress which is in today’s Western Ukraine. Following the steps taken by the Ypsilantis family and taking into account the deterioration of Alexandros’s health, the Austrian Chancellor Metternich consented to transfer the prisoners to fort Terezin in the summer of 1823. The conditions of the imprisonment of the Ypsilantis brothers by Metternich’s authoritarian regime are depicted in detail in several studies, including the book of the historian Polychronis Enepekides Αλέξανδρος Υψηλάντης. Η αιχμαλωσία του εις την Αυστρίαν 1821-1828. With a view to the above, the author examined related archive sources in the Czech State Archive (Státní ústřední archiv–SÚA). There was a rather small dossier (“Kníže Ypsilanti Alexandr”) containing a total of 38 writings covering the period from October to December 1827. In other words, covering the end of his imprisonment and his journey from Terezin to Vienna.

À travers l'histoire, il s'agit d'étudier la sociogenèse des diasporas orthodoxes russes en France comme une communauté diverse et variable, aux conceptions mémorielles et symboliques -  parfois antinomiques - dans le contexte d'une fin de l'URSS qui voit l'instrumentalisation politique de l'Eglise orthodoxe russe par le Kremlin, y compris à l'étranger.
Il s'agira également de se demander en quoi le Kremlin cherche à reconquérir ces diasporas orthodoxes russes en France par la variable religieuse, comme facteur d'unité culturelle et nationale, au risque de tensions et de conflits que ce mémoire cherche à comprendre.

In 1993, the autocephalous Montenegrin Orthodox Church appears or reappears in the Montenegrin religious space already occupied by the Serbian orthodox Church. This duality goes beyond the strict religious framework and bears identity and political aspects. The comprehension of this phenomenon, which takes place in the long duration, requires to take into account several components, the spatial anchor of the two Churches and the unfolding of worships' places, the historical patterns which legitimate the existence of both Churches and the increasingly visible provocations on both sides.

Kollyvades or fathers of the Philocalic movement performed, in the vortex of the events of their time, an admirable editing and publishing work, which left its indelible mark on the spiritual history of modern Hellenism and the Slavic world, especially with the publication of large philocalic collections. A special place in this context is occupied by the publications of hagiographical and hymnographic texts and collections, the importance and value of which remains very great up to present, as well as the wider contribution of their work to the emergence of the phenomenon of the new martyrs (neomartyrs), through the relevant neomartyrological sources.
The new martyrs (or new witnesses of the Orthodox Church) functioned as precursor forms and models of the collective resistance of the enslaved Hellenism. For this reason, it could be considered that the volume of Neon Martyrologion (Νέον Μαρτυρολόγιον) functioned as the "Gospel" of the Greek Revolution of 1821, after it conveyed in a completely realistic way to the Christians of the Ottoman state the message of resistance to the pressures and methods of the Ottoman state and religious rulers to lead them to apostasy and to become Turks.  This work protected the "Orthodox Genus" from spiritual oblivion and continues to feed the spiritual consciousness of the Greek Orthodox Nation.

Οι Kολλυβάδες ή πατέρες του Φιλοκαλικού κινήματος επιτέλεσαν, μέσα στη δίνη των γεγονότων της εποχής τους, ένα αξιοθαύμαστο συγγραφικό και εκδοτικό έργο, το οποίο άφησε ανεξίτηλη τη σφραγίδα του στην πνευματική ιστορία του νεότερου Eλληνισμού αλλά και του σλαβικού κόσμου, με την έκδοση των μεγάλων φιλοκαλικών συλλογῶν. Ιδιαίτερη θέση στο πλαίσιο αυτό κατέχουν οι εκδόσεις αγιολογικών και υμνογραφικών κειμένων και συλλογών, η σπουδαιότητα και αξία των οποίων παραμένει ώς σήμερα πολύ μεγάλη, καθώς και η ευρύτερη συμβολή του έργου τους στην ανάδειξη του νεομαρτυρικού φαινομένου, μέσα από τη σχετική νεομαρτυρική γραμματεία. Oι νεομάρτυρες, κύριοι εκφραστές ενός αδούλωτου φρονήματος, λειτούργησαν ως προδρομικές μορφές και υποδείγματα της συλλογικής αντιστάσεως του υπόδουλου Ελληνισμού. Γι᾽ αυτό και θα μπορούσε να θεωρηθεί ότι το Nέον Mαρτυρολόγιον λειτούργησε ως το «Ευαγγέλιο» της Επανάστασης του 1821, αφού μετέδωσε με έναν απόλυτα ρεαλιστικό τρόπο στους υπόδουλους χριστιανούς το μήνυμα της αντίστασης στις πιέσεις και μεθοδείες των κατακτητών να «τουρκίσουν», αλλά και το βαθύτερο μαρτυρικό φρόνημα της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας. Το έργο αυτό διέσωσε από την πνευματική λήθη το «γένος των Ορθοδόξων» και εξακολουθεί να τροφοδοτεί την πνευματική συνείδηση του Γένους.
