Bioetanol

En este trabajo se determinó la dependencia de la parte real de la permitividad relativa de mezclas de bioetanol y nafta con la composición y temperatura en un rango entre 25°C y 50°C, a frecuencias de 10 kHz y 100 kHz.
Los resultados son de interés para la aplicación de propiedades eléctricas en la caracterización de mezclas nafta-bioetanol durante la producción, transporte y almacenamiento.
En todas las muestras medidas, la parte real de la permitividad relativa disminuye con la temperatura con un muy buen ajuste a una función lineal. Los parámetros de ajuste se encuentran dentro de un rango estrecho para todas las muestras.
A medida que se incrementa el contenido de bioetanol en las muestras, a temperatura constante, la parte real de la permitividad relativa aumenta. Se tiene un ajuste satisfactorio de la permitividad en función de la composición mediante un polinomio de cuarto orden.

Minyak bumi adalah sumber energi utama di dunia, sebagai bahan bakar berbagai jenis mesin. Akhir-akhir ini penulis sering mendengar berita yang berisi tentang masalah cadangan minyak di dunia yang semakin menipis. Cadangan minyak bumi yang ada saat ini di Indonesia hanya bisa bertahan hingga tahun 2028 akan habis 11 tahun lebih tepatnya (Menteri ESDM, 2010). Oleh karena itu, masyarakat di Indonesia sangat membutuhkan solusi guna menanggulangi cadangan minyak bumi. Pada masa ini mulai muncul berbagai jenis energi alternatif, seperti tenaga matahari dan hidrogen. Bahkan kini muncul bahan bakar alternatif dari limbah plastik  sampai  SDA  (Sumber  Daya  Alam)  hayati  dan  non  hayati  sekalipun. Tulisan ini dibuat dengan tujuan untuk memperkenalkan bahan bakar alternatif ramah  lingkungan  dari  tanaman  tebu  (Saccharum  officinarum)  yang  dapat menjadi langkah tepat dalam menanggulangi masalah cadangan minyak bumi di Indonesia. Tanaman tebu (Saccharum officinarum) adalah salah satu anggota familia rumput-rumputan (Graminae). Tebu mengandung kadar glukosa tinggi yang diolah menjadi bioetanol sehingga dapat dijadikan bahan bakar alternatif ramah  lingkungan.  Bioetanol  adalah  etanol  yang  diproduksi  dengan  cara fermentasi menggunakan bahan baku nabati (Tumbuhan). Bioetanol tidak saja menjadi alternatif yang sangat menarik untuk substitusi bensin, namun mampu juga menurunkan emisi gas CO2. Bioetanol dari tanaman tebu diperoleh dengan proses penggilingan tebu dengan mesin penggiling hingga mendapatkan air tebu. Air tebu yang sudah digiling kemudian didiamkan selama 2-3 hari hingga beraroma seperti alkohol. Selanjutnya air tebu tersebut didistilasi menggunakan alat distilasi sederhana yang dibuat oleh penulis. Dengan hadirnya bahan-bahan alternatif dari tanaman tebu ini diharapkan mampu untuk menanggulangi masalah cadangan minyak bumi di Indonesia.

The current study was initiated to evaluate the potential of sugar saps from nipa (Nypa fruticans) palm as sustainable feedstock for ethanol production. Nipa palms managed as plantations on four sites was chosen for this study with palms  within 8-100 years of age. All palms studied were found to have the potential to produce sugar saps from 0.4 to1.2L/d per palm. Further chemical characterization of its saps gave a total composition of 159- 214 g kg-1 mainly composed of sucrose, glucose and fructose. In addition, the elemental analysis gave 5g kg-1of inorganics with Na, K and Cl being its main inorganic elements. Preliminary batch fermentative assays using Saccharomyces cerevisiae showed that nipa saps can be converted to ethanol within 30-48 h in conditions with and without nutrient supplementation. Furthermore, the
fermentation trends were similar to sugarcane sap with high ethanol conversions up to 96.9% and 95.5% achieved for both nutrient conditions. Further analysis on inorganic elements before and after fermentation showed that specific elements of Mg, Ca, P and S were significantly reduced and could have assisted the fermentation. Based on the results obtained from sap collection, chemical characterization and fermentation, the ethanol potential from nipa planted at a density of 1000ha-1 would range from 4550- 9100Lha-1 y-1.Conclusively,nipa sap
showed some interesting characteristics which makes it a potential feedstock for ethanol production.

For the last few decades, fossil fuels have played a dominant role as an important energy
resource in the enormous worldwide energy demand. However, as conventional fossil fuel
resources are limited, excessive exploitation of such fossil fuel comes with the major global
problem of energy resource scarcity. Thus, renewable sources of energy, such as solar, wind,
and biofuel, have gained huge attention from governments of many countries across the
world. These renewable resources are indigenous, non-polluting and virtually inexhaustible.
Among these alternate energy sources, bio-ethanol was proved to be a most promising energy
source with various added advantages. Conventional indigenous raw materials for bio-ethanol
production include sugarcane, molasses and corn-based materials, although the amount of bioethanol
produced can hardly meet the current global demand. An extensive search for the
most promising feedstock for ethanol production pioneered the use of ligno- and starch-based
biomass. For successful conversion of starch and lignocellulosic material to bio-ethanol, a
microbial single stage simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) approach has
successfully evolved in recent years, overcoming the problems associated with using harmful
chemicals and an expensive enzymes stage, the substrate inhibition effects and the reaction
time. In this review, multiple aspects of the SSF process will be highlighted.

A process of producing bioethanol from sugar cane juice filtered by alcoholic fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Proper treatment to sugar cane juice gave establishing initial conditions of pH, ° Brix and glucose concentration. Later to make yeast fermentation in the bioreactor was activated. The amount of reducing sugars was determined from a standard, amount of yeast curve over time and finally ethanol quantitation was performed by the method using potassium dichromate standard curve of known concentrations of ethanol.

Bahan baku bioetanol dapat diperoleh dari berbagai tanaman dengan komponen utama glukosa, yang diperoleh dari hidrolisis pati dengan cara kimia atau enzimatis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari waktu fermentasi dan komposisi ragi optimum untuk menghasilkan konsentrasi bioetanol tertinggi.
Glukosa dari umbi uwi diperoleh dengan cara hidrolisis secara kimiawi dengan katalis HCl 5% pada suhu 100oC selama 90 menit lalu dilanjutkan proses liquifikasi dengan enzim α-amilase pada suhu 90oC selama 120 menit dilanjutkan proses sakarifikasi dengan enzim glukoamilase pada suhu 70oC selama 240 menit. Glukosa yang diperoleh lalu difermentasi dengan variasi waktu 3, 6, 9, 12 dan 15 hari dengan komposisi ragi 0,5;1,0;1,5 dan 2,0% dari volume substrat.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada waktu fermentasi selama 12 hari dengan komposisi ragi sebanyak 1,5% didapatkan konsentrasi bioetanol tertinggi yaitu 9,97% (v/v) dan persentase rendemen sebesar 50,14%.

ABSTRAK Bahan bakar minyak yang berasal dari fosil tergolong sebagai bahan bakar yang tidak terbarukan sehingga jika diproduksi secara terus-menerus akan mengakibatkan habisnya cadangan minyak bumi. Solusi untuk menghadapi persoalan tersebut adalah dengan mencari sumber bahan bakar lain yang tergolong sebagai bahan bakar terbarukan, salah satunya adalah bioetanol. Bioetanol merupakan senyawa yang dapat dihasilkan dari proses fermentasi tumbuhan yang mengandung gula sederhana atau pati dan selulosa dengan perlakuan tertentu. Sejauh ini, pengembangan bioetanol masih mengalami berbagai macam kendala, di antaranya yaitu masih sering terjadi kompetisi sumber bahan baku antara pembuatan bioetanol dan pangan sehingga berdampak terhadap ketersediaan pangan di Indonesia. Berenuk (Crescentia cujete Linn) merupakan buah yang berpotensi sebagai bahan baku pembuatan bioetanol dimana ketersediaannya melimpah namun kurang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ragi Saccharomyces cerevisiae terhadap kadar bioetanol yang dihasilkan dari daging buah berenuk. Daging buah berenuk dihaluskan kemudian dibagi menjadi tiga variabel, yaitu A, B dan C dengan variasi penambahan ragi sebanyak 5, 7 dan 9 gram. Fermentasi dilakukan selama tiga hari kemudian destilasi sebanyak dua kali, yaitu pada suhu 95 dan 78-85 o C. Hasil pengukuran dengan alkohol meter pada destilasi pertama menunjukkan kadar etanol sebesar 12%, 15% dan 16%, sedangkan pengukuran menggunakan metode Piknometer pada hasil destilasi ke-2 menunjukkan kadar etanol sebesar 35%, 55% dan 70% pada sampel A, B dan C dengan volume destilat 17,5, 14 dan 11,5 mL secara berturut-turut.

2000; Neuhoff 2007). Simply stated, even if alternative energy systems are cost-competitive in theory, the prime movers that control their diffusion throughout society –
for example, conversion and distribution infrastructure; financing mechanisms; skilled labour force; attitudes toward particular kinds of energy production activities and energy services – exhibit a preference for incumbent carbon-intensive fossil energy resources. Carbon lock-in represents path dependencies within energy systems including sunk-cost in prevailing infrastructure and entrenched political interests along with positively reinforcing relationships with broader system dynamics, from global financial logics that continue to monetise unburned carbon through energy
futures contracts to our everyday practices and expectations about mobility, comfort, and overall
well-being that underpin regular visits to the gasoline station. All of this is to say that energy systems are sociotechnical in nature, characterised by deep and often subtle interdependencies between technological, social, political-economic, and cultural processes which operate across the energy supply chain and at all scales of energy system operation (Miller, Richter, and O’Leary 2015).

Abstraks
Berdasarkan karakteristik fisik dan kimianya, limbah jagung berupa bonggol jagung berpotensi sangat baik sebagai sumber bioenergi terbarukan yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi dan mampu mengatasi permasalah krisis bahan bakar fosil saat ini. Telah dilakukan kajian teori dan penelitian mengenai potensi transformasi terhadap bonggol jagung. Diperoleh  bahwa bonggol jagung dapat ditransformasi menjadi bioenergi berupa bioetanol. Bioetanol menjadi alternatif bahan bakar yang menjajikan karena dibuat dari sumber daya yang dapat diperbaharui dan lebih ramah lingkungan.Proses pembuatan bioetanol dari si bojag diawali dengan proses delignifikasi yaitu menghilangkan penggangu berupa senyawa lignin, kemudian proses hidrolisis atau dengan sakarifikasi untuk mendapatkan senyawa gula yang nantinya akan difermentasi dengan khamir sacharomyces cereviciae menjadi bioetanol. Untuk memproduksi bioetanol di Indonesia dalam jumlah banyak sebaiknya perlu mengkaji dan memperhatikan  kembali pemilihan teknik metode pemprosesannya agar mendapatkan bioetanol yang ekonomis dari segi waktu, biaya produksi serta nilai jualnya. Dengan metode dan cara yang tepat Bioetanol dari Bojag akan menjadi primadona alternatif bahan bakar yang ramah lingkungan bagi Indonesia.

Abstrak Bioetanol adalah etanol yang diproduksi dari bahan-bahan nabati yang mengandung karbohidrat, selulosa, ataupun glukosa. Limbah minuman rumah tangga didalamnya mengandung glukosa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah minuman rumah tangga sebagai bahan baku pembuatan bioetanol, mengetahui proses pembuatan bioetanol dari limbah minuman rumah tangga dan mengetahui kadar bioetanol yang dihasilkan dari limbah minuman rumah tangga. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode experimen dilaboratorium. Pembuatan bioetanol dilakukan dengan metode fermentasi dan destilasi. Fermentasi dilakukan dengan variasi lama waktu 1, 2, dan 3 hari juga variasi berat ragi yang digunakan selama fermentasi yaitu 1, 2, dan 3 %b/v. Penentuan kadar bioetanol didasarkan pada hasil analisis instrumen Gas Chromatography (GC). Hasil dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan adalah limbah minuman rumah tangga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan bioetanol, metode proses pembuatan bioetanol terbaik dari variasi yang dilakukan terdapat pada variasi lama waktu fermentasi 1 hari dan berat ragi 2% b/v dengan kadar bioetanol 82,69%.

Globalleşen dünyada her geçen gün önem kazanan enerji, ülkelerin öncelikli politikaları arasında yer
almaktadır. Tükenebilir enerji grubundaki enerjiler, artan nüfusa karşı yetersiz kalmakta ve rezervleri bitme
noktasına gelmektedir. Ayrıca fosil yakıtlardan elde edilen bu enerjiler çevreye verdikleri zararlar göz ardı
edilmeyecek duruma gelmiştir. Bu durum dünya ülkelerini alternatif enerji kaynaklarına yönlendirmiştir.
Biyoyakıtlar, alternatif yenilenebilir bir enerji türüdür. Enerji arzı ve çeşidine katkı sağlanması konusunda büyük
önem taşıyan bu enerjinin dünyada ve Avrupa Birliği’nde etkin bir şekilde kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. Türkiye bir
tarım ülkesidir ve zengin bir biyoyakıt potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, Avrupa Birliği’nde ve Türkiye’de
biyoyakıt üretim ve tüketim durumları, ülke ekonomisine katkıları ve potansiyeli belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Biyoyakıtların ülkelerin enerji talebinin artmasında bu talebi karşılayan yenilenebilir ve çevreye duyarlı bir yakıt türü
ve ekonomik anlamda da gelecek vadeden alternatif bir enerji türü olduğu görülmüştür. Dünya ve AB ülkelerinde
çevre politikaları ve destekler kapsamında sektörde önemli gelişmeler kaydedilmiştir. Türkiye’nin biyoyakıt
konusunda önemli ve ayrıcalıklı potansiyeline rağmen sektörün gelişemediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca yeterli teşvik ve
desteklemelerden de yoksun olduğu görülmüştür. Türkiye’de tarım sektörü potansiyelinin iyi değerlendirilerek,
AB’de olduğu gibi, “Enerji Çiftçileri” şeklinde yeni aktörlerin ortaya çıkarılmasının sağlanması gerekmektedir.

Para el 2012 en México se proyecta sustituir 880 millones de litros de oxigenantes de gasolina por etanol. Esto representa la bioconversión de 2.2 o 16 millones de toneladas de maíz o caña de azúcar (10 y 33% de la producción nacional), cultivos más utilizados en el mundo para producir etanol. El uso de maíz en México resulta poco factible debido a restricciones sociales y legales, mientras que el alto precio de la caña de azúcar limita también su uso. El sorgo en cambio representa una buena
opción por ser un cultivo resistente a sequía y condiciones agronómicas adversas. Es un cultivo multifacético ya que existen
genotipos de sorgo granífero, dulce y de alta-biomasa que pueden ser biotransformados. La conversión del grano almidonoso con tecnologías similares a las del ma´ız permiten producir 360 a 400 L de bioetanol/ton. La conversión de sorgo dulce permiten obtener jugo y material lignocelulósico con excelentes rendimientos (8,000 L bioetanol/Ha/corte considerando una producción de 120 ton de sorgo dulce/Ha). Las nuevas variedades de sorgo de alta biomasa pueden ser convertidas en etanol con tecnologías
de lignocelulosa y con un potencial productivo de hasta 14,800 L de bioetanol/Ha. Este cultivo, sin embargo, supone desafíos tecnológicos como desarrollo de maquinaria de molienda, modificación o ingeniería genética de cultivos y de microorganismos fermentadores, así como métodos de pretratamiento de grano y bagazo. En esta revisión se describen tecnolog´ıas viables especialmente en el contexto mexicano para transformar sorgo granífero, dulce y su biomasa en etanol

Se aislaron cepas de hongos con actividad celulásica desdemuestras de suelo agrícola.Los hongos aislados pertenecierona los géneros Aspergillus, Penicillium y Fusarium, presentandodiferentes rendimientos en la producción de glucosa.Los hongoscon mayor capacidad de digestión de celulosa pertenecieron algénero Penicillium y Fusarium, permitiendo un mayor rendimientoen cuanto a producción de etanol a partir de la fermentación delproducto de digestión con levadura de panadería.

Resumen: En vista de la existencia de una dependencia energética mundial hacia los combustibles fósiles se han desarrollado fuentes alternativas de energía; una de estas alternativas es el bioetanol. El bioetanol se produce a partir de varios tipos de residuos y varias materias primas renovables como plantas. La secuencia de operaciones unitarias empleadas para la obtención de bioetanol a partir de biomasa consiste en cinco etapas principales: pretratamiento, hidrólisis, fermentación, filtración o decantación y recuperación o purificación del etanol. En el presente proyecto tiene como finalidad obtener bioetanol de concentración igual al 99.6 % v/v a partir de paja Stipa ichu. Se caracterizó la materia prima obteniéndose como resultado la siguiente composición en base seca: 45.9 % celulosa, 18.2 % lignina, 5.5 % pentosanos y 5.6 % cenizas. La humedad en base seca es igual a 57.7 % y el contenido de ceras, resinas y grasas igual a 6.7 %. Para obtener un sustrato rico en azúcares, la materia prima se sometió a hidrólisis ácida, como resultado de estos ensayos se determinaron las mejores condiciones de la hidrólisis: concentración de ácido sulfúrico de 8 % w/w y tiempo de reacción de 6 horas. Estos parámetros permitieron alcanzar un rendimiento de 0.41 gramos de azúcares reductores por cada gramo de paja hidrolizada, empleando una relación sólido/líquido de 50 g de paja por cada litro de solución ácida. El producto de la hidrólisis se sometió a fermentación alcohólica, se obtuvo en rendimiento de 0.46 g etanol/g azúcares reductores. El fermentado se destiló y rectificó hasta alcanzar una concentración cercana al 85 % de etanol w/w; luego fue sometido a destilación extractiva empleando glicerina como agente de separación. Se logró obtener bioetanol anhidro en los ensayos de destilación extractiva empleando una relación molar glicerina:etanol igual a 3:1.

Abstract: Because of the existence of a global energy dependence on fossil fuels, alternative energy sources have been developed; one of these alternatives is bioethanol. Bioethanol is produced from various types of wastes and renewable raw materials. The sequence of unit operations used to obtain bioethanol from biomass consists of five steps: pretreatment, hydrolysis, fermentation, filtration and recovery of ethanol or purification. The present project aims to obtain bioethanol (99.6 % v/v) from straw Stipa ichu. The composition of the material was analyzed, the cellulose content was determinated to be 45.9 %; lignin 18.2 %, pentosans 5.5% and the ash to be 5.6 % of the dry weight material. Dry basis moisture is equal to 57.7 % and the content of waxes, resins and fats equal to 6.7 %. Hydrolysis of the straw was studied in order to find suitable conditions for hydrolysis of the cellulose parts. The highest yield of hydrolysis (0.41 grams of reducing sugar per gram of straw) were found at a sulfuric acid concentration of 8 % w/w and reaction time of 6 hours using a solid / liquid ratio of 50 g straw/L of acid solution. The hydrolysis product was subjected to alcoholic fermentation, the fermentation yield obtained is of 0.46 g ethanol / g reducing sugars. The fermentation product was rectified to an ethanol concentration around 85 % w/w; then was subjected to extractive distillation using glycerine as separating agent. It was possible to obtain anhydrous ethanol by distillation assays employing a molar ratio glycerol: ethanol of 3:1.

Microorganisms, especially fungi are the leading producers of an array of industrial enzymes.
Microbial cellulases are the enzymes that are sold in- large volumes due to their enormous
applications in biochemical industry. Selection of the right organism plays a predominant role in
high yield of desirable enzymes. Hence an attempt was made in the current study to isolate and
screen novel fungi from forest soil for the optimal production of exo and endo- 1,4-β-D-glucanases
(FPase and CMCase). In this study eight fungal cultures were isolated and screened, out of these
four cultures were found to exhibit cellulolytic activity. The most potent isolate which exhibited
maximum cellulolytic activity was identified as Purpureocilliumlilacinum based on microscopic
observation and molecular characterization. The activities of cellulases were determined by Filter
paper assay (FPA), Carboxy-methyl cellulase (CMCase) assay. A significant FPase and CM Case
activities was shown by Purpureocilliumlilacinum grown on Czapex-Dox medium.

The present article tries to offer some elements of Romano Guardini's thought as a basis for a personalist bioethics. This paper is structured in two main parts. First we will expose the known critic of the Modern Age by Romano Guardini since at this time are set the basis and the principles that later on will bring forth the big bioethics 'questions as human cloning, in vitro fertilization, embryo transference, euthanasia, etc. The power without a guiding ethic rule, the modern human conception and the roll of the Estate will be analyzed too in this first part. This analysis brings to light the error in which modernity has fallen. Secondly, in a more positive way, we will try to deduce other principles from the Romano Guardini's anthropology, commenting his essay "The right to human life in develop".

Un “Proyecto Integrado de Síntesis de Combustibles A Partir de Basura Con Cogeneración Eléctrica y Producción de Biocombustibles A Partir de Micro Algas Consumidoras de CO2”, es una iniciativa propia que he tenido en mente desde hace años, a la espera de encontrar financiamiento por parte de algún país interesado o de la gran empresa privada; ya que, ciertamente, es un proyecto muy oneroso y que no puede ser desarrollado a pequeña escala. Pero tiene la gran ventaja estratégica de que se enmarca dentro de varios marcos; entre ellos: el Desarrollo Auto-Sustentable, el Tratamiento y Aprovechamiento de los Desechos Sólidos Orgánicos (Basura Orgánica), la Captura de CO2 y la Carbono Neutralidad.

Outbreaks of cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms present a serious threat to ecosystem safety and human well-being. Removal of toxic cyanobacterial biomass from freshwaters and its safe utilization is a worldwide problem. We showed that regulation of intracellular carbon flow by applying nitrogen deprivation strategy with light and inorganic carbon manipulation during the cultivation of cyanobacterium Microcystis allows efficiently convert its biomass into the biofuel feedstock. The proteomic analysis demonstrated that highly efficient feedstock production can be achieved during Microcystis culturing by nitrogen deprivation, which slows down the catabolic consumption of carbohydrates in cells. Further, we developed a novel approach that allows converting the natural Microcystis biomass into carbohydrate-rich feedstock by maintaining a high rate of carbohydrate production at minimal biomass losses. The yield attains 0.22 g ethanol per gram dry biomass, which is in the range of the ethanol yield of sugarcane, but higher than the values of sugarcane waste. The suggested approach provides cost-effective technology for sustainable green energy production from nuisance cyanobacterial biomass. The massive removal of toxic cyanobacterial biomass for bioethanol productions can mitigate the harmful cyanobacterial blooms in eutrophic lakes, and positively affect their restoration.

Kebutuhan akan tepung terigu di Indonesia mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya, menyebabkan
industri tepung terigu meningkatkan kapasitas produksinya sehingga jumlah limbah yang dihasilkan juga
semakin meningkat, solusi adalah dengan mengubah limbah cair tepung terigu menjadi produk bioetanol.
Bioetanol adalah etanol yang dibuat dari biomassa yang mengandung komponen pati atau selulosa.
Bahan yang digunakan untuk pembuatan bioetanol dalam penelitian ini yaitu limbah cair tepung terigu
serta ragi yang digunakan yaitu Alcotec 48 Turbo Yeast. Pada penelitian pembuatan bioetanol dari
limbah cair tepung terigu dengan proses fermentasi menggunakan Turbo Yeast akan menghasilkan suatu
bioetanol yang akan dianalisis kadar alkoholnya menggunakan refraktometer alkohol. Kandungan
glukosa limbah cair tepung terigu setelah proses hidrolisis sebesar 11% (v/v). Hasil terbaik pada proses
fermentasi yaitu pada kadar turbo yeast 10% dan berlangsung pada hari ke 5 yang menghasilkan kadar
bioetanol sebesar 37% (v/v). Setelah dilakukan proses optimasi hasil dengan metode Response Surface
Methodology (RSM) menggunakan aplikasi Minitab 17 didapatkan kadar turbo yeast optimum sebesar
11.6569% dan waktu optimum fermentasi 5 hari dihasilkan kadar alkohol sebesar 37.2073%.
