The aim of this work is the development of an information system that, by integrating data from different sources and applying semantic technologies, makes it possible to publish and share with society the scientific production generated in the university environment, promoting its dissemination and thus contributing to the knowledge society, among others. In practice, this is the implementation of a CRIS (current research information system). This CRIS presents advanced features. On one hand it applies semantic technologies, providing a query service through a SPARQL Point, besides the reuse of shared data by exporting them in different formats. In this sense, it is also based on a European ontology or semantic standard such as CERIF, which facilitates its portability. On the other hand, CRIS also presents an alternative to the lack of a single data system by allowing data from different sources to be integrated and managed.

At present, capacity control in indoor spaces is critical in the current situation in which we are living in, due to the pandemic. In this work, we propose a new solution using machine learning techniques with BLE technology. This study presents a real experiment in a university environment and we study three different prediction models using machine learning techniques—specifically, logistic regression, decision trees and artificial neural networks. As a conclusion, the study shows that machine learning techniques, in particular decision trees, together with BLE technology, provide a solution to the problem. The contribution of this research work shows that the prediction model obtained is capable of detecting when the COVID capacity of an enclosed space is exceeded. In addition, it ensures that no false negatives are produced, i.e., all the people inside the laboratory will be correctly counted.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to assess whether Europeana can be really seen as the new “Library of Alexandria” for digital resources from the perspective of teachers, academics and researchers that might want to retrieve and reuse those resources for learning purposes. Design/methodology/approach The authors define a systematic method for studying Europeana digital resources and their potential for reuse in e-learning environments. To achieve this, the authors explore the coverage of digital resources when searching information about a specific area. The paper studies the relevance of the results (thematic coverage) provided by queries targeting the resources’ metadata elements defined by the EDM Europeana model. Folate status is complex, complicated to assess and we lack consensus for laboratory determination. Total plasma homocysteine (Hcy) is a sensitive marker of folate status. The aim of this study was choosing a plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) measurement method and folate repletion level; assess the mutation C677T frequency for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) and the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia in healthy Majorcan women. The measurement methods were compared using 219 women. Folate status assessment was determined by plasma tHcy, serum and erythrocyte folate and C677T for MTHFR in 342 healthy women. The mutation frequency is established with 146 of them. The measurement method comparison is summarized by Y = 1.013 (IC 95% 0.959, 1.069) X +0.829 (IC 95% 0.485, 1.170). The folate repletion level was set at Hcy < or = 8.6 micromol/l. Women (67.1%) are heterozygotic and do not carry the mutation. Homozygotic frequency is 18.5%, significantly higher in women under 40 years (P = 0.033). Hyperhomocysteinemia prevalence is 19.3%, and 51.7% in the younger group. Hcy determination by polarized fluorescence immunoassay reflects folate status. Levels < or = 8.6 micromol/l suggest folate repletion, which is less frequent in homozygotes. Population frequency for homozygotic-TT alleles for C677T-MTHFR reductase and hyperhomocysteinemia is significantly higher in women under 40 years.

XML has become the most useful standard of data interchange in the web and e-business world and there is a large amount of information stored in this format. Nonetheless, a large quantity of information remains stored in Relational Databases. It is very important to be able to jointly manage these two data formats. One solution would be an integrated query model that would at the same time allow the query of a relational database and of XML data. Because of the growing number of applications that have to work in a web environment, the proposed system should use a query language based in XML and also return answers in the same XML format. In this paper, we make a detailed study comparing different systems that link both, databases and XML. Besides, we propose a new system to overcome the limitations found in them.

El objetivo de este proyecto ha sido poder automatizar todo este proceso mediante técnicas de Text Mining, Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural y Machine Learning utilizando el lenguaje de programación Python 3, uno de los lenguajes más utilizados en la actualidad y con mayor proyección a futuro. Para ello, hemos aplicado diferentes procedimientos, como son, el establecer un directorio de trabajo que incluya el corpus a analizar, la lectura de los datos de dicho corpus, el procesado de los mismos y la aplicación del algoritmo LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation) para modelado de tópicos con técnicas de aprendizaje no supervisado, consiguiendo la clasificación automática del texto sin partir de un conjunto predefinido de temas de clasificación. Wikidata constituye una de las bases de conocimiento abierto y global más importantes y es la fuente de conocimiento de la famosa Wikipedia. The ability to know the precise level of occupancy in an indoor or outdoor space in real time could have multiple applications. It is a well-known problem for which a number of technologies have been proposed over time. The recent emergence of BLE beacon technology has provided a solution to the problem. This study presents a tool that uses beacons and user smartphones to determine the level of occupancy in indoor and outdoor spaces, providing real-time information that can be published as open data and subsequently used by other applications. The tool was tested in a university environment in real-life situations and has produced promising results in obtaining an occupancy count.

Internet has changed many aspects of our society, transforming it in e-society, and is having special importance in business world, Internet has converted business in e-business. About information, when systems work or collaborate with other systems using the web, they have to manage different data types and from different sources. On one hand they have to manage new data types as web data and, on the other hand, have to continue working with traditional data types as databases. In the same environment is necessary to manage both data types. In Internet XML is more and more being used, it has become de facto standard to data interchange and integration on the web, in databases world the most extended is relational one therefore, it would be useful to develop a tool that link both environments. In this paper we propose a new system for querying databases from a web environment based on XML. This system includes a model to adapt any database in order it could be queried in the web, a new language based on XML for querying and a new software tool that implements all this functionality.

ABSTRACT There are many educational contents in digital format and it would be very good if they could be reused in mobile contexts. This paper seeks to achieve this objective by providing access to educational contents packaged in SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model). In this way user can reuse in any context the educational contents that already exist using mobile devices to access them. SCORM is a set of standards and specifications to share, reuse, import and export learning objects. Its main objective is to enable sharing and reusing educational contents between different systems. In this paper we propose an application which allows access SCORM objects from the mobile. This application is being used in real environments for several companies of e-learning.

In order to learn, m-learning can be considered as an evolution of e-learning that allows the user to use the advantages of mobile technologies to support the learning process. The final aim is to offer repository owners a scientific basis to support their decisions when they have to choose an interface that can really help users to effectively locate and visualise resources over large digital collections. Design/methodology/approach – This HCI study is divided into two parts: perception and usability. The first one analysed three perceptual abilities required to use interfaces: attention, retention of information and understanding. ABSTRACT In this paper, we present the integration of information from library catalogues to the bibliographical format MODS (Metadata Object Description Schema). Hereby the resources of different bibliographical catalogues can be consulted obtaining the results in the same common format as MODS. To achieve our aim we use the XDS system, a software tool that solves the integration of heterogeneous data using XML as integration format. XDS allows integrating data from different relational and XML sources obtaining the results in the XML format specified by user. In this case the information sources store library catalogues and the output format is MODS.

XML has become a standard to present Web information and to inter/intra business dataflow. In business, it is very critical to produce XML from database information. The commonly database management systems used, are relational systems but nowadays exists other type of systems that allow storage and recover XML information: RDBMS allowed by XML and XML native DBMS. These different source types joined to the distribution of information make difficult to obtain XML. In this work we present in detail the existing tools to obtain XML from relational databases and the main characteristics of allowed XML DBMS. En nuestros días y especialmente con la explosión de Internet, las organizaciones tienen que manejar multitud de datos y además datos de fuentes heterogéneas, como por ejemplo datos procedentes de las tradicionales bases de datos relacionales y otros procedentes de nuevas tipos de datos aparecidos con la Web, como los documentos HTML y XML. Las organizaciones tienen que trabajar con todos estos tipos de datos al mismo tiempo, por lo que se hacen necesarios sistemas que actúen como "mediadores" para facilitar la integración de esta información. En nuestra investigación nos centraremos en los datos XML, estándar de facto para el intercambio de información en la Web, y las bases de datos relacionales, que continúan siendo uno de los principales sistemas de almacenamiento.
