The subjects comprised of 371 spectators attending a Malaysian Super League soccer match. The subjects completed the sportscape instrument (Wakefield, Blodgett, & Sloan, 1996) to measure perceptions of the physical facility while the quality of the team was measured using items from Zhang, Pease, Smith, Lee and Lam (1997) scale ...

The purpose of this study was to investigate Malaysian students’ sport spectatorship motives and to determine differences in motives in terms of gender and nationalities. Using Capella’s (2001) Fan Behavior Questionnaire, data was collected from 259 local and international students studying at Universiti Putra Malaysia. The result of t-tests (p < 0.05) suggests significant differences in motives between males an d females in terms of pro social behaviors (t = 3.308), anti-social behaviors (t = 4.104), and emotionality (t = 5.383). Local and international students differed significantly in terms of pro social behaviors dimension (t = 2.203, p < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in terms of negative behaviors and emotionality. The results of the study were discussed in light of earlier findings concerning motives of watching sports events.

This research examined how customers’ perceptions of service quality influence the degree of their involvement and psychological connection to a sport activity at a fitness center by applying the Psychological Continuum Model (PCM). Research instruments consisted of the PCM and SERVQUAL and administered to customers at a fitness centre in Malaysia (n = 248). In terms of sport involvement, the results showed most subjects are in the level of attachment. Results showed all dimensions of service quality have negative mean scores which mean customers are dissatisfied will all aspects of service quality at the fitness centre.  A one-way ANOVA showed differences in satisfaction with service quality based on the PCM level of involvement for tangible, reliability, responsiveness and empathy dimensions of service quality. Customers at the higher level of involvement (allegiance) reported less dissatisfaction with the tangible, responsiveness, empathy and reliability dimensions of service qua...

Background :Time management, test competence, academic competence, and study techniques are some of the factors that affect an individuals' academic performance (Sansgiry et al., 2006). The relationship between self achievement has been highlighted in the literature (Harris, 2009; Mohammad, 2010; Sadaat, Ghasemzadeh & Soleimani, 2012; Rosli, et al., 2011). However, no studies addressed how self-esteem and time management combine to predict academic success. Objective:This study examines the relationship between time management, self-esteem and academic performance of Iraqi graduate students studying in Universiti Putra Malaysia. Method:Data on time management and self from 169 subjects using instruments developed by Griffin & Van Fleet, (2013) and Blascovich & Tomaka (1991). Results:Results showed that majority of subjects (74.1%) had good time management skills and moderate level of self terms of the relationship between time management and GPA, the results report no significant relationship (r= -0.03, p= 0.698). Also there is no significant relationship between self- esteem and GPA (r= -0.096, p=0.221).Conclusion: there were no significant relationship between academic performance and time management skills and self-esteem of Iraqi students studying in Malaysia. The results also showed majority of students studying in Malaysia had very good and excellent results (GPA above 3.30). For the small number of Iraqis with poor academic results, there are many factors besides self-esteem and time management skills which could act as barriers to students attaining and maintaining a high GPA

Many studies have reported inconsistent results on the relationship between competitive sports participation and academic achievement. Attitude was not studied in previous research on competitive sport participation and in Saudi Arabia, the attitude towards sports participation is low among students due to the fear of negative influence of sport on academic achievement. This study examines whether attitude towards sports participation might play a role in mediating the relationship between sports participation and academic achievement. A total of 102 undergraduate student-athletes from three universities in Saudi Arabia were selected as the sample of this study. Results showed there is a significant relationship between competitive sports participation and academic performance, mediated by the attitude towards competitive sports participation. This study found that the higher the subjects’ participation in competitive sports, the higher their academic performance, especially when they exhibit positive attitude towards their participation in competitive sports

Using Kerr and Jermier's (1978) leadership substitutes theory as framework, this study examined the extent to which situational variables moderate the relationship between transformational leadership behaviours and coaches' job satisfaction at NCAA Division III institutions. Data for this study were collected from a national sample of 308 coaches from NCAA Division III institutions. The Transformational Leadership Behaviour Inventory developed by Podsakoff, MacKenzie, Moorman, and Fetter (1990) was used to measure ...

Leisure-time, as an important factor for reducing and predicting most diseases not only is emphasized by many studies but also it considers as a cause in order to be an active and healthy. Our information this regard on post graduate students is very limited. Their physical activities have decreased due to many factors such as assignments and some courses. To improve physical activity among the students, this qualitative study concentrates on the questions whether or not they play sport or do any physical exercises; if so, how they do it, and if not, why not? The aim of this study is to find out ways of spending leisure-time physical activity by post graduate students. For this study the researchers have selected 5 convenient samples from among third semesters post graduate students who accepted to participate in this research at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), “1st semester 2010”. The researchers derived 36 codes from interviews with students and categorized them into five categories. Respondents argued sport and physical activities can control, prevent and decrease many of different diseases such as cardiovascular illness, arthritis, diabetes, depression, and obesity. All respondents believe leisure-time physical activities improve mental power. Finally, for the latter case, this study intends to propose a suggestion for improving this condition.

Teacher education programs provide courses which equip pre-service teachers with knowledge on how to teach a particular subject and psychology of particular age groups. Although parental involvement is widely recognized as an important part of children's academic achievement, the US teacher education programs place little emphasis on practical suggestions for how to involve parents (Greenwood & Hickman, 1991). With today's high mobility in immigration, this is no longer a topic of concern in the US alone. Advocacy ...
