The aim of this work was the use of Pleurotus ostreatus and Pleurotus sajor-caju for the previous lignocellulolytic decomposition of banana tree leaf straw and the further use of the degraded straw as substrate for the culture of Agaricus blazei. For optimising the production of A. blazei in terms of yield (Y%) and biological efficiency (BE%), adjustments to the composition of the substrate were evaluated in a 25 experimental design. The following components were tested in relation to % of substrate dry mass: urea (1 and 10%), rice bran (10 or 20%) or ammonium sulphate (0 or 10%), inoculum (10 or 20%) and the casing material (subsoil or burned rice husks). The best results (79.71 Y % and 6.73 BE%) were found when the substrate containing 10 % of rice bran, without ammonium sulphate, inoculated with 20 % and covered with subsoil was used.

RESUMO – Fungos do genero Pleurotus tem demonstrado ser bons produtores de enzimas oxidativas com diversas aplicacoes industriais, assim sendo estudos sobre a composicao de meios de cultivo que maximizem a producao destas enzimas tornaram-se alvo de muitas pesquisas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar producao de lacase por Pleurotus sajor-caju nos meios de cultivo (a) solucao Manachini suplementada com CuSO4 150 μM e glicose 20 g/L e (b) solucao (a) tendo seus sais dissolvidos em agua de imersao (residuo oriundo da umidificacao do substrato no processo de cultivo de cogumelos). Os experimentos foram realizados em biorreator de mistura completa (4L), temperatura 30 o C, KLa e pH iniciais 15 h -1 e 6,0, respectivamente. A utilizacao da agua de imersao mostrou-se favoravel para a producao de lacase por Pleurotus sajor-caju. Bisphenol A is an endocrine interfering compound, produced and used on a large scale worldwide. Chemical and biologic methods can be used to remove it from the environment. Biological methods are considered less costly, safer and, according to green chemistry definitions, an environmentally correct method. Considering the use of a crude enzyme broth, without any downstream process, the costs could be mostly reduced. Thus, the removal of bisphenol A by Pleurotus sajor-caju crude enzyme broth was investigated. Initially, the agro-industrial wastes were characterized and, the composition of the culture medium and the bioreactor culture conditions were defined. The enzyme produced in the highest concentration was characterized and the crude broth used in the bisphenol A removal assays. As águas residuárias são normalmente um empecilho ambiental para o desenvolvimento da indústria têxtil em razão do gerenciamento inadequado e/ou tratamento ineficaz, que levam à contaminação da biota. Efluentes de indústrias têxteis têm como uma de suas principais características a alta carga de corantes, os quais durante o processo produtivo não se aderiram à fibra e, assim, encontram-se presentes no efluente final. Estes, quando lançados no ambiente aquático, reduzem a disponibilidade de luz e a realização da fotossíntese e ocasionam outros problemas ambientais. Além disso, a maioria dos corantes têxteis são tóxicos, mesmo em pequenas concentrações. Enzimas produzidas por Pleurotus sajor-caju são reportadas como eficientes na remoção de cor, degradação de corantes e detoxificação de efluentes têxteis. An alternative method to the chemical treatment of this pollutant has been the use of oxidative enzymes, especially laccases produced by fungi. In order to reduce production costs, agro-industrial waste can be used in the culture medium composition. Nonionic surfactants, which are only slightly toxic to biological membranes, can be applied, as well as Tween 80, to facilitate the excretion of these enzymes into the culture medium. Poluentes atmosféricos são precursores de alterações estruturais nos vegetais, reduzindo sua capacidade fotossintética. Por meio do método de biomonitoramento passivo, o presente estudo avaliou o efeito de material particulado depositado sobre as folhas de populações de Alchornea glandulosa (Euphorbiaceae) localizadas em quatro pontos amostrais no município de Joinville (SC, Brasil). Em cada ponto, selecionaram-se cinco indivíduos amostrais, dos quais foram coletadas folhas completamente expandidas para a mensuração de atributos funcionais morfoanatômicos e do material particulado. As médias dos atributos foram comparadas por Anova. Observou-se maior quantidade de material particulado depositado sobre as folhas nos indivíduos do ponto situado nas imediações de indústrias emissoras de poluentes atmosféricos. Therapeutic properties of Pleurotus genus are associated with the polysaccharides present in the mycelium cell wall and culture broth of submerged cultures. The production of extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) by Pleurotus ostreatus using fed-batch and semi-continuous culture with 50 and 75 % medium replacement was investigated. The assays were performed in 4L bioreactor with 40 g L-1 initial glucose concentration. Medium replacements were performed when residual glucose concentration reached 20 - 25 g L-1. The highest fungal biomass productivity was obtained in semi-continuous culture with 75 % medium replacement (61.02 mg L-1 h-1) followed by fed-batch (30.00 mg L-1 h-1) and 50 % medium replacement (23.4 mg L-1 h-1). However, the highest global EPS productivity (6.06 mg L-1 h-1) was obtained in semi- continuous culture with 50 % medium replacement. 75 % medium replacement and fed-batch led to EPS productivities of 4.03 and 3.78 mg L-1 h-1, respectively. The contamination in aquatic environment, in the last decades, is undeniable. And, one of the most important source that contributed to this contamination are industrial wastewaters. The Babitonga Bay is situated in the South of Brazil, wide 7,267.7 ha, and where there is a representative mangrove cenosys. This kind of ecosystem is very rich in benthic communities. For this reason, it is source of food for many fisherman’s communities and for population that lives in cities around it. Therefore, it receives daily, a great volume of several kinds of industrial effluents and domestic sewage. It is known that aquatic contaminated environment is responsible for many human health problems which can be generated through ingestion of water or seafood.
