I,91.419, regarding the place in which the survivors of the battle near Faventia (82 BC) took refuge. After having reviewed the positions of previous scholars, the author interprets the text on the basis of both the historical reconstruction and Appian’s report. KEYWORDS. Appian, Emphylia, Bellum civile, Sulla, Faventia.

This episode can be connected with the tradition which made the Punic general the personification of Punica fraus.

J.-C.), Onasandre définit les autres destinataires potentiels de l’ouvrage : les sénateurs et ταῖς τε ὑπάτοις καὶ στρατηγικαῖς ἐξουσίαις κοσμουμένοις (proême 1).
