Managing knowledge in libraries is an essential role in librarianship. Information and communication technology (ICT) is an enabler that facilitate library routines including knowledge management practices. The objectives of this study include to assess the level of adoption of knowledge management practices, to establish the extent of ICT application in knowledge management and assess the relevance of ICT facilities in knowledge management practices in university libraries. This study applied descriptive research and had a target population of three hundred and ninety-three (393) librarians and the sample size of the study was 191. Questionnaires method were used for data collection. Descriptive statistic methods was used in analyzing the data collected while tables, frequencies, percentages and charts were used for tabulation and presentation. This article assessed the ICT literacy among Para-professional librarians at Abdullahi Fodiyo Library Complex for effective service delivery. Objectives of the paper include, to establish the source of ICT literacy skills, assess the types of ICT facilities used and to examine the type of services provided by Para-professionals librarians. This study adopted descriptive survey design and the population of the study was the entire one hundred and twenty-six (126) Para-professional librarians in Abdullahi Fodiyo Library complex. Questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection and data collected were then converted into simple percentages and means scores and presented in tabular form for clarity. Descriptive method was used to analyzed data collected. The findings revealed that majority of the Para-professional librarians acquired ICT literacy through self study, while only few Para-professional librarians indicated that they acquired their ICT skills through workshops and seminars. The findings of the study also showed that majority of the respondents provide internet services in the library, while minority of the respondent provide circulation services. Higher percentage of the Para-professional librarians indicated lack of interest as the major challenge militating against ICT literacy in the library. In order to improve ICT literacy skills for Para-professional librarians, the article recommended that there is the need to provide adequate access to ICT facilities such as laptops, digitals cameras, printers, projectors, photocopiers among others with view to improve competencies of para-professional librarians in providing effective services

This paper is an empirical study that attempted to x-ray the digitisation projects in tertiary institution libraries in North-West Nigeria. Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi (WUFP) and Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau (FCE (T)) were used as a case study. Purposive sampling technique was used to draw jive (5) sample staff from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto because it has the highest number of staff for the exercise and three (3) staff each from Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi and Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau. Therefore, a total of eleven (11) staff were chosen as the sample for the study. The paper focuses the implementation of knowledge management (KM) in libraries. It dwells on the concept of knowledge management from business, science and library perspectives. as well as the importance of implementing KM in libraries considering the benefits that would be derive by librarians and the parent organisation of the library. This include helping librarians to do their work and save time through better decision making and problem solving and developing professional code of ethics that librarians will adhere to among others. It also addresses the implementation stages of KM in libraries such as advocating and learning, developing strategy, design and launch of KM initiatives, expand and support of KM activities and institutionalize knowledge management. This will assist any library to actualize the knowledge management processes. Barriers for implementing KM in libraries are equally identified and recommendation made based on the review of literature in the article.

The research paper focused on the school library services as a necessity to all primary and secondary schools. The study discussed the concept and significance of school libraries in the community, it also explained the reading habits of school children as they utilize the library and the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in school libraries. The study identified some services and types of information resources provided by the school libraries. It concluded that libraries need to be properly equipped to provide effective library services that will satisfy the pupils and teachers. Recommendations were also provided such as: adequate provision of funds, current information resources, employment of qualified and trained teacher-librarians among others.
