The primary purpose of this paper is to illustrate the significance of several underlying theories of organizational sustainability from a motivational perspective. This paper adopts three theories from three distinct perspectives, including the institutional or organizational perspective, the employee perspective, and the stakeholder perspective, to construct and develop strong relationships among different variables to form a research framework connecting these three perspectives with organizational sustainability. The study then suggested a conceptual model for organizational sustainability based on three theories: the institutional theory (IT), the ability-motivation-opportunity (AMO) theory, and the stakeholder theory (ST). Several theoretical perspectives of organizational sustainability, including IT, AMO theory, and ST perspectives of sustainability concerns, were used to explore and determine the motivational viewpoint of these theories. This study began with a review of mu...

The development of ontologies needs to meet not only the functional requirements of the ontology, but also their non-functional requirements. For ontologies, the non-functional requirements are the general requirements that the ontology should fulfil; referring to the criteria, qualities and general aspects that the ontology should satisfy. They need to be elicited during the problem exploration stage which gathers the characteristics and development criteria of the ontology. The elicited non-functional requirements need to be formally documented in the Ontology Requirement Specifications Document. Some of the non-functional requirements could be tested, while others would suffice with documented elaborations of fulfilment.

This paper aims to provide a holistic approach for a brief understanding of the current state of literature of Society 5.0 by deciphering its characteristics, subjects, the geographical distribution of publications, keywords and general concepts by using bibliometric data retrieved from the Scopus database. We used descriptive analysis to examine publication characteristics, subjects and geographical distribution of published documents, Harzing’s Publish or Perish to calculate citation metric and VOSviewer version 1.6.16 for data and network visualization. Through the network analyses of author and index keyword co-occurrences, research clusters were revealed from different perspectives. The bibliometric analysis indicates that Society 5.0 is heavily influenced by the advancement of the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0. The intellectual structure of the Society 5.0 literature is being dominated by engineering-related fields, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). Our analysis revealed the existence of a strong link in the temporal co-map between Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Society 5.0. This paper also emphasizes on university’s role as an important stakeholder in Society 5.0 ecosystem.

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of innovation competitive advantage on strategic orientation dimensions of (entrepreneurial orientation, market orientation, and resource orientation) on the sustainable growth of SMEs. This study used a total of 217 responses adopting the cross-sectional survey research design from manufacturing SMEs owners/founders. The results were analysed using PLS-SEM via SmartPLS version 3.3.3. The major findings established that entrepreneurial orientation did not directly link with the sustainable growth of SMEs. The study confirmed that market orientation and resource orientation revealed a direct and significant positive link with the sustainable growth of SMEs. Similarly, innovation competitive advantage has a direct significant positive association with the sustainable growth of SMEs. Likewise, entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation have a direct and significant positive relationship with innovation competitive advantage. However, resource orientation did not significantly relate to innovation competitive advantage. The findings validated that innovation competitive advantage mediated the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, market orientation, and the sustainable growth of SMEs. Finally, innovation competitive advantage did not mediate between resource orientation and sustainable growth of SMEs, which have not previously been proven in empirical studies. This study was designed to address the existing gaps and provide reasons to prove them. This study is indeed one of the remarkable studies in the context of SMEs, which integrates these selected variables into a single model. The originality focused on the role of innovation competitive advantage on strategic orientation dimensions and sustainable growth of SMEs that are relevant to Society 5.0.

In order to be effective, information systems that cater for the Islamic banks ought to be backed by a suitable ontology of the industry. The ontology will be useful for consumers' decision making and also to facilitate the financial engineering in the context of Islamic banking. However, the peculiarities of the Islamic banking businesses demand several domain characteristics and ontology development criteria to be taken into account. The characteristics relate to the business model, diverse roles, distinct concepts and representation rules of the Islamic banking industry. The specific characteristics are distinct to the Islamic banking domain, while the general characteristics are those that also apply to other domains. The development criteria prescribe the generally accepted qualities of the developed ontology. The information shared in this paper is the basis for our future work on the design of Islamic banking product information system.

There have been numerous complaints and grievances by the customers of the Islamic banks. The banks are being accused of charging high financing costs on their customers. Before remedial action could be undertaken, the root causes of the grievances need to be identified. As such, a comprehensive content analysis of literatures pertaining to the grievances on the Islamic banks has been carried out; the outcome of the analysis is a cause-effect concept map outlining 34 root causes of the grievances. The root causes are further classified under four main causes of grievances: the preference of the banks on debt-based financings, inadequate understanding about the banking products, doubts whether the banks really comply with the Shariah and poor product innovations and service quality at the banks. The findings of this survey could be viewed as the basis for remedial actions to be undertaken by the Islamic banks to address the prevailing grievances.

The Islamic banking industry is relatively new compared to the conventional banking, yet it is much more complex and built from a number of Islamic Shariah abiding principles. The complexity had inadvertently created numerous issues, and amongst them the issues of public awareness, shortage of human capital with expertise in Islamic banking principles, legislations, and also non-uniformity of opinions. These issues if not attended will affect the image of Islamic banks and the trust that has been given by its customers. Islamic banks could not rely on religious motivations alone, but have to take initiative to reduce the gap of understanding and the differences of view amongst its stakeholders. Hence, an information system will be necessary to facilitate dissemination on Islamic banking knowledge.
