Abstract

 位相差補償素子(56)は、Cプレート(86)とOプレート(85)とから構成される。Oプレート(85)は、無機物を斜方蒸着した2軸性の複屈折体であり、その進相軸(L6)は、Oプレート(85)の表面に正射影した蒸着方向(96)と平行である。Oプレート(85)は、液晶表示素子(51)と検光子(68)の間に配置され、液晶分子(75)のチルト方向(L8)と進相軸(L6)とが平行となり、かつ、蒸着方向(96)とチルト方向(L8)とがZ2軸に対して反対側となるように配される。Cプレート(86)は、液晶表示素子(51)と検光子(68)の間で、Oプレート(85)の上方に配置される。
