The fire-pot is surrounded by a casing ot' cast-iron, formed in two parts, the lowermostot' which rests upon the cast-iron base at the level of' the grate. The lowerlnost of' said parts is contracted toward the bottom, and is provided with a shallow flange, ornalnentcd with :i` row of elliptical bosses. The side of the lower part is further ornamented with Gothic tracery and pendants, and, at its top, there is a banded astragal nionlding, which connects the upper and lower parts.
The upper part recedes from its base, and has a less diameter at its upper line than the diameter' of the base of the lower part.
Upon the front of the upper part is the fuel-door. On either side of seid door are transparent panels, for illuminating-windows. At the top of the upper part is a projecting cornice.
rEhe casting:r for the base of the stove is formed with :t cornice, and projection at the roar to receive the exterior stand-pipe, :i vertical wall surrounding the ash-pit, and a oot-hase, which projects toward the front, as is usual.
