DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

To all whom, it ntcty concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES HAY HUTOHISON, a subject of Her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of London, England, have invented and produced acerain new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,

:0 forming a part hereof.

:0 same being the usual characters that go to make up a font of type.

All the letters are made up of curved lines and scrolls. The leftline of A and H and the upright line of B, F, I, J, K, P, and R and the tail of G are scrolls ending in a bulb. The tops of A, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, U, V, and

W have scroll serifs.

The two curves in B and E and the inclined lines in K are joined by an open loop. The upright line and the curved line of the D and the upright and lower line of L and Z are joined by an open loop at the bottom. The upper curves of B, D, P,

and Rteiminate in bulbs. The top of T joins the curved upright by an open loop.

It will be noted that the font is in the nature of an italic script, and this characteristic appears not only in the upper-case, but also in the lower-case letters, which in shape, configuration, and ornamentation correspond in general with those of the upper-case.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for a font of printing-type, substantially as described and shown.
