3 6 m a m W UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
STEPHEN CROUSIC, OF ROCK GLEN, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A RAIL-JOINT PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,686, dated October 17, 1899.
Apphcation filed August 21, 1899. Serial No. 728,013. Term of patent 7 years.
To (all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, S'lElllEN CEoUsE, a citizen of the l niled States, residing at Rock Glen, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Rail-Joint Plates, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front perspective view of a rail-joint plate, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a rear perspective ofa rail-joint plate, showing my design.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the body portion a, one side of which is Hat and has a rectangular rib b running longitudidinally and horizontally thereof substantially midway of its height and throughout its length. The lower edge of the body portion is flat, while the upper edge thereof curves upwardly from the ends to the center.
At each end of the body a and forwardly thereof is a lug (I, the bases of which lugs lie in the same horizontal plane with the lower edge of the body and are separated by an inter-space, the body (1 having a flange 6 extending therefrom and diminished from its center toward both ends. The height of the flange e is equal to the height of either lug (Z where it meets the face of the body a, said lugs being curved from the body (L forwardly and downwardly and having in their forward edges and extending rearwardly thereof recesses g, arranged vertically.
Passing through the body and laterally thereof are perforations 71, arranged in pairs.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a rail-joint plate, as herein shown and described.
