UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
.IIARRY VISSERING, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR TO THE WVESTERN RAILWAY EQUIPMENT COMPANY, OF EAST ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A DRAFT-LUG AND DRAW-BAR FOLLOWE R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,941, dated April 20, 1897. A li ti fil d February '5, 1897. Serial No. 622,226. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it 'nutg concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY VISSERING, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and orignal Design for a Draft-Lug and Draw-Bar Follower, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein-- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a draftlug and draw-bar follower embodying my new and original design as seen from the rear and below. Fig. 2 is a perspective view as seen from the front and above.
This invention relates to a new and origi nal design for a draft-lug and draw-bar follower; and it consists in the shape and configuration thereof, as will "hereinafter be more fully described.
In the drawings, A indicates the front wall, which is formed with a circular opening Ct about its middle. Forwardly-exten'din g projections a are arranged on each side of" said opening, and a curved projection a is formed on the lower edge of said front wall.
B indicates the side Walls,-which are formed with ribs 1) and 1), running vertically the entire height of said walls. Between these ribs 19 and b are circular openings. The inner faces 'of the side walls are formed with vertically and horizontally disposed raised ribs which intersect each other near the rear end, as shown. The rear end is open.
C indicates the top wall, formed with a triangular-shaped opening, and D indicates the bottom wall, formed with a similarly-shaped opening, said openings leaving strips c and d, which extend across the end of the structure at the top and bottom thereof.
The curved lower edge of the front wall forms the cross of a T-shaped projection, which is formed on the front edge of the bottom wall, as shown in Fig. 1.
I am aware of the Design Patent No. 25,957, granted to Andrew G. Steinbrenner for a simi lar device. The Steinbrennerdesign does not have the cross-strips c and d, which distinguish my draft-lug and draw-bar follower from any with which I an'rfamiliar.
What I claim is- 5 The herein-described design for a draft-lug and draw-bar follower, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 1st day of February, 1897.
- HARRY VISSERING.
