To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and original Design for Fire-Box Lining, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a view in perspective of my new and original design for fire-box lining as seen from the front. Fig. 2 is a view in perspective of my new design as seen from the opposite side or from the rear, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through the central portion of said fire-box lining.
This invention relates to a new and original design forfire-box lining; and it consists, generally stated, in the shape and ornamentation of the same, as will hereinafter be described.
The body portion of my newly-designed lining is formed on one of its faces with a series of transversely disposed corrugations or flutes, which terminate in a sunken recess or groove extending practically the length of the body portion. In the upper wall of this groove are formed a series of openings, as shown in Fig. 1. A reanvardly-extending flange extends from the top of the body portion and a recessed portion extends practically the length of the rear face, the lower wall of said recessed portion having a series of openings between which are raised projec tions, as shown in Fig. 2. lhe recesses in the front and rear faces are on different planes, as shown in Fig. 3, the line of openings referred to practically piercing the bottom wall of the rear recess and the top wall of the front recess.
Having thus described my new and original design, What I claim is The design foriire-box lining, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses, this Qlth day of December, 1897.
