(Application filed Aug. 17, 189B.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHNIt. WVENGLER, OF ALLENTON, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A PIPE.
SPECIFICATION firming part Of Design NO. 29,363, da.ted September 20, 1898.
Application filed August 17, 1898. Serial No. 688,812. Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN R. WENGLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allenton, in the county of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Pipes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure l is a perspective view of a pipe, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of a pipe constructed in accordance with my design.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the shape of the bowl of the pipe and the ornamentation thereof.
The body a of the bowl is substantially cylindrical in shape and has at its upper edge a projecting ring 5, hemispherical in crosssection, the said body tapering slightly toward the bottom. At a point about one-third of the way from the bottom of the bowl the body is suddenly contracted, from which point it is semi-ellipsoidal in form. Upon the surface of the upper cylindrical portion of the body is shown a shield of the United States, consisting of the striped lower portion with a field at the top having stars represented thereon. Oentrally of the shield is a curvilinear inclosure, within which is shown a portrait.
The stem 0 of the pipe is shown as protruding from the bowl below the shield or medallion.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a pipe, substantially as herein shown and described.
JOHN R. WENGLER.
