DESIGN FOR A MANHOLE-COVER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,312, dated September 6, 1898. Application filed August 9, 1898. Serial No. 688,217- Term of patent 14 years.
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THOMAS P. GREGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Manhole-Cover, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which- Figure 1 is a top or plan view of a manholecover, showing the particular shape or configuration of the cover of my said design; and Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partly in section, of the said cover on the line a; a: of Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my design consists of the unitary structure made the subject of illustration and having the particular shape or configuration shown and hereinafter described.
In the drawings, a is the cover,which is substantially dish shape in cross-section and having a base or bottom b, upwardly or convexly bent inward. The base or bottom b of the cover is oifset at b and merges into a surrounding wall or rim 0, on the top surface of which concentric grooves or recesses d are provided, as fully illustrated in Fig. 1. In the periphery of the wall or rim 0 are provided recesses e at suitable distances apart around said wall or rim and tapering gradually from top to bottom of the said wall or rim, as fully illustrated in Fig. 2.
