DESIGN FOR A FRONT FORK FOR VELOCIPEDES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,245, dated August 16, 1898.
Application filed July 5, 1898. Serial No. 686,178. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE L. THOMPSON, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for aVelocipede-Fork, of which the following is a specification.
My novel design consists in a front fork for a velocipede, and embraces as its distinctive features an oval or U-shaped crown I), made smooth and substantially oval in cross-section and having united therewith the pair of fork members a, each having the tip portion a and the upper end portion a adjacent to the crown I), made smooth and of generally oval form in cross-section and each made of uniformly angular contour in cross-section, so as to present to view a plurality of fiat faces ct throughout its portion extending between the said tip and upper end portions, substantially as shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a front elevation, and Fig. 3 a transverse sectional View, taken on line 3 8 of Fig. 1.
The flat faces a are symmetrically arranged and substantially coextensive with each other and merge into the smooth or Oval parts in the form of gracefully-tapered points or end portions a thereby contrasting the angular portions of the fork members with the smooth portions thereof and accentuating the characteristic appearance of the design.
I claim as my invention- The design for a front fork of a velocipede, substantially as herein shown and described.
