DESIGN FOR A FORK-CROWN FOR BICYCLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N o..26,892, dated April 13, 1897. Application filed February 25, 1897. Serial No. 625,056- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, JOHN J. GIBSON, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie, and GEORGE W. HOUK, residing at Elmira, in the county of Cheniung, State of New York, citizens of the United States, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fork-Crowns for Bicycles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The design relates to the shape or configuration of a fork-crown for bicycles as represented in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a fork-crown embodying our design. Fig. 2 is a top plan View thereof; and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section thereof in line 3 3, Fig. 2.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
The leading feature of our design consists of an arch or crescent shaped open frame composed of an upper curved member or portion and a lower curved member or portion, the
two'members or portions being united or connected at their ends and forming together an open arch-shaped fork-crown.
A represents the upper curved portion or member, which is formed with a flat circular ring a in its center, and B represents the lower curved portion or member, which is provided with a circular opening I) in its center immediately below the ring a of the upper member. The top and bottom faces of both members or portions A and B are curved or rounded toward opposite edges and are connected by narrow fiat faces 0.
cl are lugs or projections extending downwardly from the united ends of the two curved members or portions A and B for receiving the upper ends of the front fork of a bicycle.
We claim as our in vention The design for a fork-crown of a bicycle herein shown and described.
