O ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN:

Be it known that I, JOHN McARTHUR, Jr., of the city of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State l' Pennsylvania, have originated and designed a building for a. Masonic Hall, of which the following is a ill, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying photographs, making a part of this ieciication, and showing a perspective view of the building.

The building is perpendicular, Gothic in style, three stories in height, and has a front of one hundred and fty feet, and a depth of two hundred and fifty feet. The principal entrance is through a deep-recessed portal i the base ofthe great tower, which occupies the centre of the front, and terminatesin a spire two hundred and lrty feet above the pavement. Each front is supported at the corners by richly-panelled octagonal towers, vo on each corner. Between these the cell of the building is divided into bays by enriched huttresscs pinaeled above the battlement-line, which is ninety-six feet from the pavement. The roofs are of slate, defended 1 the tops by a rich Gothic cast-iron railing.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United tatcs, is-
