WITNESSES: INVENTOR ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANNA M. ROTIIERT, OF NElV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BOOK-MARK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,703, dated June 30, 1896.
Application filed May 22,1896. Serial No. 592,682. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNA M. ROTHERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced anew and original Design for a Book-Mark, of which the following is a specification, and referred to in the accompanying drawings.
The design has for its object to provide a novel, ornamental, and characteristic design for a book-mark of the kind which are clamped or slid into place at the fold or binding of the book.
The leading features of the design consist in a book-mark clamp having an upwardly extending or flaring end portion, a curved portion, shanks united by a bow portion, and a flaring or enlarged head or end portion for one of the shanks.
The design is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bookmark. Fig. 2 is a plan View of Fig. 1.
An upwardly extending or flaring end portion 1 2 extends from a curved portion 2 3 4, from which extends a shank or leg 4 5 to the bow portion 5 6 7, uniting the shank 4 5 to the shank 7 8. At the end of the shank 7 8 is a flaring or enlarged head or end portion 8 9. The legs or shanks incline toward orapproach one another from the bow part or joint toward their free end portions. The design produces a noveland ornamental book-mark which presents a distinguishing and characteristic appearance.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a book-mark substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANNA M. ROTIIERT.
