UNITED STATES PAT NT OFFICE.
ALANSON H. REED, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A PIANO-PEDAL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,537, dated May 10, 1892.
Application filed March 9, 1892. Serial No. 424,345. Term of patent 7 years. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALANSON H. REED, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Piano-Pedals; and I do hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The leading feature of my present design consists in a piano-pedal provided with laterally-arranged foot-bars of an ogee form, the ends of which are made lobular.
In the accompanying drawing, illustrating my present design, 1 represents the base or trunk of the pedal of an approximately pyramidal form, the edges being scalloped and the surface grooved to impart a foliated appearance thereto.
2 are lateral scrolls at the lower corners of the base that merge into the same and into the forwardly-extending bar 3, that carries the foot-bars 4 and 5. The bar 3 in the case of center pedal 4 is straight, and in the case of the outer pair of pedals is curved, as shown. The center pedal 4 has its tread portion formed by a lobular enlargement 6, the edges of which are scalloped and the top surface grooved to impart afoliated appearance thereto, and the pair of outer foot-bars 5 are of a transversely-arranged ogee form, with reversely-arranged scroll-shaped ends that form lobular terminations for the foot-bars.
7 are the rearwardly-extending shanks of the pedals resting upon the ornamental base, as shown.
What I claim is- The design for a piano-pedal, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALANSON I-I. REED.
