Design No. 2,511, dated November 27, 1866.

Be it known that I, REUBEN MILLER, of the city of Lincoln, in the county of Logan, and State of Illinois, have invented or produced a new and original design for a cast-iron tomb slab or monument, which I style the Cemetery Monument, for marking the head or foot of graves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and clear description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 is an elevation of one side of the monument; and

Figure 2 is a similar elevation of the reverse side.

To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my improved cemetery monument, I will proceed to describe it.

A is a slab of cast iron, the general contour of which may be any of the usual forms, or any form possessing grace and beauty. Around the top end of the monument there is an ornamental scroll or wreath, b, in alto-rilievo or n1ezo-rilievo, as shown in iig. 1. Within this scroll or wreath is a Scythe, b1, and an hour-glass, b', both in mezo-rilievo. 0n the reverse of the monument, as shown in g. 2, is a similar wreath, b, encircling the sculptured hand of justice holding the scales, c;

Having described my invention, what I claim, is an ornamental design for cemetery monument, as herein shown and described.
