DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,167, dated April 2, 1895.
Application filed January 2 2, 1 8 95 Serial T0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GRACE R. COOPER, a citizen of the United States, residing atBrooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon carpeting or other similar fabrics, and I do hereby declare that the drawing accompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpet weaving a clear understanding of the same that is sufiicient to enable such person to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my new design.
The drawing illustrates a body and a border. The body A consists of a substantially uniform ground-work upon which are disposed detached figures or wreaths. These detached figures or wreaths are located diagonally with respect to each other, that is to say, these figures are located so as to divide the carpet body into diamond-shaped sections. The figures are duplicates of each other, and consist essentially of wreaths formed by two light sprays or branches, which appear to be fastened by means of a ribbon having loose No. 535,827. Term ofpatent 3% years.
or flying ends. The border B consists of a ground-Work of substantially thesame character as in the body A, except that the groundwork is shaded off near the outer edge of the border. On this shaded back-ground is arranged in a straight line aseries of detached figures. wreaths, which conform in general confignration, but are somewhat larger than the wreaths employed in the body of the carpet.
The colors employed for the different portions of this design may be varied to suit the convenience or taste of the manufacturer.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a design for carpeting, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. Ina design for carpeting, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
