DESIGN.
1). WALSH.
SHOVEL.
Patented Oct. 10, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DORMER WALSH, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A SHOVEL.
BPEUIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 22,834, dated October 10, 1893.
Application filed September 5, 1893. Serial No. 484,872. Tenn of patent 3K; yous.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, DORMER WALSH, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Franoisoo, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Shovels, of which the following is aspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing. forming a part thereof, which shows my design.
Theleading feature of my design consietsin the configuration of that portion of the shovel at the corners formed by the junction of the upper approximately straight edge with the curved side edge, forming a. series of convex or rounded surfaces joining each other by sharp angles forming notches.
A is the handle, B the blade of the shovel, having rounded convex edges coming to a point C at the lower end.
The upper edge of the shovel is approximately at right angles with the handle, and
at the outer ends are formed the segmental scallops D. The upper edge of the blade is curved at the point where it meets the upper ends of the scallops so as to form a notch or depression as shown at E, and the upper ends of the sides are curved in a like manner to form similar notches or depressions F at their junction with the lower edges of the scallops, the whole forming ornamental angles or corners at the upper part of the shovel blade.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a shovel as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
DORMER WALSH. Witnesses:
