EMILE GERARD, OF LIMOGES, FRANCE.
DESIGN FOR A DISH.
SPECIFICATION forming para; of Design No. 20,521, dated February 17, 1891. Application filed January 19, 1891. Serial No. 378,488. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMILE GERARD, acitizen of France, residing at Limoges, in the Department of llaute-Vienne, and Republic of France, have in vent-ed and produced a new and original Design for Dishes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 represents the face view of a plate. The outer edge of the plate is marked by six divisions, three of which A A A are plain arcs terminating at either end with a slight scroll or a spray of foliage. The divisions B B B, which alternate between the divisions A A A, are formed by irregular scallops which extend from one scroll or spray of the are A A A to the commencement of a similar are. From the interior circumference of the rim of the plate six small raised points are turned downward toward the basin ofthe plate (J O G O O C.
Fig. 2 represents a face view of a platter or deep dish. The form of the platter is oblong. The outer circumference is marked by eight irregular divisions which reproduce in a more accentuated form the divisions of the plate above described. The divisionsD D at either end of the platter are elongated and rounded into a scroll which serves as handles. The extremities of the dish are ornament-ed with sprays of foliage. From the inner circumference of the rim F the side of the dish is curved so as to lose itself in the basin of the dish.
Fig. 3 represents a side view of a souptureen or covered dish. The body of the dish is divided into four lobes or divisions. The upperedge is'irregular and conforms to the 40 outline of the platter above described, having the divisions at each endelongated and rounded to serve as handles and ornamented with sprays of leaves and foliage, as above described.
Fig. 4 is a face view of the cover. It is divided into four lobes or divisions G G G G. In the center is a handle of rococo style, formed by one long and one short scroll. here the handle is attached to the cover are ornaments of foliage and leaves.
