ALBERT STEFFIN, OF NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A SALT-CELLAR, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,539, dated December 31, 1889.
Application filed September 25, 1889. Serial lilo. 325.106. Term of patent 7 yea.rs.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT STEFFIN, de signer and decorator, acitizen of the United States, residing at New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for Salt or Sugar Boxes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,
reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to designs for salt, pepper, or sugar boxes; and it consists in an article of manufacture made in the form of a tomato and provided with an opening or neck, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a box which embodies my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view with the cover removed.
A represents a salt, pepper, or sugar box or receptacle, which is made in the form of a tomato. The opening B into the box is through the neck formed upon its top. This box or receptacle has creases or grooves C in its outer side, and these creases or grooves radiate from a common center, as shown in Fig. 1, forming the rounded port-ions D in between them. The width of the box or receptacle is greater than its height, and this, in connect-ion with the flattened form and the grooves or creases, gives the box the appearance of a tomato. Over the opening is placed a perforated cover G.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The design for a salt, pepper, or sugar box of the form of a tomato and having an opening or neck, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT STEFFIN. Witnesses:
G. T. SANFORD, C. H. BARTLETT.
