DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jenn V. B. 02.1mm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rochester, in the conntyoi' Monroe, in the State of New York, havoim'ented and produced anew and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the aecompunyi ng photograph, forming part hereof.
The accompanying photograph represents my design for stoves.
The stove embodying my design consists, snbstantially,of the base or skirt section A, the ash-pit section B, and the magazine-section 0, all of which are rectangular with truncated corners, and the top or upper section, D, oi ovalshape, snrinounting tho magazine-section. Above the top section is placed the cover E, of an oval domoshsped form, on which rests an ornamental fi re of a knight on horseback, F, carrying a s ield, j, displaying a cross. The lower margin of the cover E is provided with a breed smooth band, 0, having a row of vertical indentations, b,in itssuri'ace, while the upper portion of the dome is ornamented with raised work of substantially the character represented at o. The top section, D, is surrounded at its upper edge by an outwardlyprojocting molding or cornice, d, of an oval form, corresponding with that of the section,
and having its upper surface rounded or curved-inwardly, as shown at a, to meet the bottom of the cover. At the center of its front the top section is provided with the medallion f, and at each side with the circular tile ornament or rosctteg. Between the medsl] ion and the ornament g the vertical surlfscc of the top section is ornamented with one or more raised scrolls, It, with a. representation of sflowcr and other leaf-work, substantially asshown. It will be observed that the top section is of somewhat smaller-dimensions than the lower parts of the stove. Around the boltoln of the to seetiomwhere it joins the upper plate, G, o the magazine-section, is
placed the curved molding i, forming the base of the top or domeseetion. 'Iheplats G,whioh connects the top section with the magazineseotion, is provided with a curved flange, is
pro ecting somewhat beyond the walls of this magozinesection, but of the same general form as seen from above, with truncated corners I. At the front and rear sides of the stove the projecting flange k is curved or bent upward nearly to the bottom of the top section in a. graceful form, as shown at m. The edges of the flange k are preferably inclined slightly, as indicated, or they me be vertical. Inside the upper sur see of the plate G is round or curved upward and inward, so as to meet themolding i, being ornamented with raised scroll-work, as shown at n, and having the raised rounded ornaments 0 at the corners, displaying a cross which is sunken. As already ststed,the magszinesection C is reetsn gular in form,with truncated corners and parallel vertical sides. It is provided in front with the double doors p p, and at the sides with the doors q q, allof which are fitted with mica. li hts. At the corners of the magazine or com ustion section 0 the stove is provided with the mica light or lights represented ctr;
below which is the raised panel 3, having afemale head thereon surrounded with ornamental scroll-work, as shown. The doors 1) p are rovided with vertical and horizontal bars, as shown the rounded surface of which is ornamented in imitation of rustic work. The posts or pillars t at each side of the truncated corners of the magazine-section are ornamen ted with raised work as represented in the photograph. The as -pit section B is provided around its upper end with the flanie u, the sides of which are iuclinedinward slig tly, with a rounded molding at their upper edges. The truncated corners of the ash-pit section are ornamented with bust of a knight in armor as shown at o. In front suitable ornamental arms attached to the door support the foot-restH,whileat thesides thefoot-rests I and J aresu ported from the ash-pit section by the arms to, arin curved ribswasornamcnted on their inner e g as shown, and haviugacirole with an into or cross, as represented at y.- Thebase A is oruamentedin front withthe medallion r, and at the sides with the rosette or circular piece a, in keeping with the correspondin ornamentatiomfaud g, on the top section. he feet L of the stove project 11 ward outside of the truncated corners of t c base, being ornamented, as shown, to represent acolleetion of leaves. The lower ends of the feet L are representations of the claws of an animal, as shown. The base is ornamented further by the straight and curved moldings b and the representation of the flowers c.
The front doors are surmounted by a center ornament consisting of a female head with leaf or flower work extending each way therefrom.
I do not claim the design for the knight on horseback herein shown, as the said design was not originated by me.
I claim- 1. The design for a, heatingstove, consisting of the sections A, B, 0, and D, with plate G, having the shape and ornamentation herein shown.
2. The design for the upper portion oi aheating-stove, consisting of the oval top section, D, surrounded at its upper edge by the cornice :1, and provided at the center of its front with the medallion f, and on each side with the circular rosettes g, and the intermediate raised scroll-work, h, substantially as herein shown.
3. In a design for a. stove, the design for the base-section A, consisting of the medallion :a at the center of the front, the rosettes a at each side, the straight and curved moldings b, and flowers c, substantially as shown.
4. In a design for a store, the feet L,eonsisting of a group of leaves projecting above the outside of the truncated corners of the base, and having claws at their lower ends, substantially as shown.
