QG-sc x DESIGN.
W. L. JACOBS.
CARPET.
No. 14,875. Paj s ql lted Mar. 11,1884.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VINTHROP L. JACOBS, OF EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO THE HARTFORD CARPET COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESlGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,875, dated March 11, 1884. Application filed January 28, 1884. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, W. L. JACOBS, of East Orange, in the State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original-Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a, part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
The feature of the design is the peculiar character of the several groups that loosely fill the ground, more or less interblent with one another. The group shown in the upper center of the photograph has a large fan-like figure on the right of the central mass above, and another fan-like figure and flag-like leaves, forming a secondary group above the main group, and having a stem-connection with the main group. This secondary group is shown in part at the lower edge of the photograph. Below this group, and to the left, is a group of large flag-like leaves. In the lower center of the photograph is a characteristic group having leaf and blossom sprays. The design as a whole produces the effect of moss-grown stems and mossy groups of flowers and leaves.
I claim- The design for a carpet, substantially as shown and described.
W. L. JACOBS.
