UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN GRAHAM, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR GIMP.
Specification forming part of Design No. l l ,564, dated December 30, 1879; application filed November 14, 1879.
[Term of patent 7 years] To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN GRAHAM, of the city, county, and State of New York, havein- Vented a new and original Design for Gimp, of which the following is a specification.
My design consists in a series of crosses or crossshaped figures having angular zigzag outlines; also, in a series of such crosses or cross-shaped figures and longitudinal stripes; also, in a series of such crosses or crossshaped figures and alternate diamondshaped figures.
The accompanying drawing represents a piece of gimp embodying my improvement.
B designates the crosses or cross-shaped figures, arranged at such a distance as to be isolated from each other, and having angular zigzag outlines. A designates diamond or lozenge shaped figures, alsoisolated from each other.
The two series of figures alternate with each other along the gimp, and are delineated by certain of the warp-threads of the gimp of any desired color or colors, and have, consequently, a jagged outline.
O G designate stripes extending along the gimp close to its longitudinal edges. They are composed of alternating sections 0 and 0, of different colors, along each of the said edges, as shown.
The gimp may have feathered edges 1), as represented, or may have plain edges.
That 1 claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for gimp, consisting of a series of isolated crosses or cross-shaped figures having an angular zigzag outline, substantially as specified.
2. The design for gimp, consisting of a series of isolated crosses or cross-shaped ligures and longitudinal stripes near the edges of the gimp, composed of alternate sections of dift'erentcolors, substantially as specified.
3. The design for gimp, consisting of series of alternating crosses or cross-shaped figures having angular zigzag outlines and diamond or lozenge shaped figures, substantially as specified.
4. The design for gimp, consisting of series of alternating crosses or cross-shaped figures having angular zigzag outlines and diamond or lozenge shaped figures and longitudinal stripes near the edge of the gimp, substantially as specified.
JOHN GRAHAM.
