DESIGN FOR COFFlN-HANDLES.
Specification forming part ol- Design No. 10,755, dated July 16, 1W5; application filed July l, HTS. [Ti-rm of patent 14 years] To all whom 1' t may concern:
Be it known that J,\\*'11.l\l. SMITH, of Nest Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Design for Oofiin-Ilamlles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, in which the figure is a front view.
This invention relates to a design for the base of eoiiin handles; and consists in the configuration and ornamentation, as shown in the accompanying illustration, and hereinafter described.
The handle A and its lovers '1 3 may be of any of the usual forms, constituting no part of this design further than that some kind of handle is necessar'. The base by which the handle is secured to the eoflin extends above the line of the hinges where the handle is attached, and inclining from the center downward toward each end. This extension or portion above the handle attachment repre sents drapery as thrown over that portion secured at the center, and draping down from the front and down from the two ends, as shown in the accompanying illustration, this upward extension and drapery thereon constituting the peculiar characteristic of this dvsign.
The design for cofiin-handle, consisting of the base extending above the hiugiug line of the handle, inclining from the center downward toward each end, with the representa tion of drapery falling from the front of said extension over each end, and substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration.
