Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH GRAVVFORD, 0F NEXV YURK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR MIRROR-FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,310, dated November 13, 1877; application filed October 12, 1877.
To all whom it may conce-rn:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH CRAWFORD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Mirror-Frame, of which the following is a specication:
The nature of my design is fully shown in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
The object of this design is to furnish for mirrors and lookin g-glasses an improved frame ot' ornamental appearance, which consists, essentially, of side pillars, supporting on their capitals enlarged corner-pieces, which are laterally connect-ed by a top molding and surmounted by a center top piece of elaborate finish.
Referring to the illustration, A A are the pillars at the sides of my improved mirrorframe, which pillars rest on square bottom corner-pieces, and are arranged with suitable bases, shafts, and. capitals. The capitals are in line with the lateral top part of the mirrorframe, and serve to support enlarged cornerpieces B, which are ornamented inV suitable manner and surmounted by triangular pieces G, that are placed on top moldings of the corner-pieces, and set back at their bases from the pointed sides of the corner-pieces B. The cornerpieces B are laterally connected by a molding, D, that is placed on the top part of the frame, forming an upward extension of the same. This top molding D serves as the base or support from which the center top piece E of the frame rises. rThe center piece E has channeled side pillars a, with bracket-shaped bases resting on the top molding D, and with vase-like top buttons. The pillars a are connected below the top buttons by a horizontal [Term of Patent 3% years] bar, b, with end buttons and forward-princeting corner-pieces. The space between the pil lars a is iilled up by an ornamental center piece, d, that extends by its pointed or triangular lower part over the top molding D, and the top part of the frame down to the gold molding, next to the mirror'glass. In the angular spaces formed by the top molding l) and the side pillars a are placed scroll-shaped pieces e, that form the llin g or connectin g-links between the corner-pieces B and center pieces E. The horizontal bar b is surmounted by a triangular iilling part, f, with tapering center point f', the latter extending beyond the top buttons, and forming Vthe highest point of the mirror-frame.
The center piece is the most essential feature of my frame, as by it the peculiar character is imparted to the frame.
I claim as my inventionl. The design for amirror-frame, consisting of side pillars A, enlarged corner-pieces B C, laterally-connecting top molding D, and surmounting center piece E, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for a mirror-frame top, consistin g of enlarged corner-pieces B C, laterallyconnecting top molding D, and surmounting center piece E, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design, in a mirror-frame, of a center piece, consisting of side pillars a', horizontal bar b, center portion d, having pointed lower part, corner-scrolls e, and pointed top piece j' f', substantially as shown and described.
JOSEPH CRAWFORD.
