Be it known that I, J. W. FISKE, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain Improve merits in Designs for a Pedestal for Vases, Statuary, 830., of which the following is a specification The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographicillustration.
This is a design for a stand or pedestal for supporting an urn or vase, or for any similar purpose, usually made of metal. As shown in the accompanying illustration, it has a rectangular base, supporting a corresponding body and cap-piece. The base is joined to the body by a series of ornamental moldings, a, b, c, d, and e, the lower one, a, being covered on its surface with a series of leaves or similar figures, while the remaining members of the moldings are plain. Upon each face or side of the body is a sunken panel, f, the top of which is curved (lOWl'lWttlLl, and each of the angles or corners g of the body is cut away or beveled the greater portion of their length. Upon each face, above the panel f, is a raised or projecting portion, h, on which is formed a scroll, as shown. The cap or top portion projects laterally beyond the sides of the body, with a molding around its lower edge, and with its upper edge of an ogee form, as shown.
