Description

Quite tetra gaunt ffitz.
IMPROVED WASHING-MACHINE.
EH fitlgctulc nfrmt in in flgm 32mm $21M ant making and at the same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERNi -Be it known that I, MIKEL BECK, of the town of Lake View, in the county of Cook, and State of Illinois,
have invented new and useful Improvements in Washing-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in -which-- r Figure 1 represents the section of the machine andgear, and v Figure 2 the top view of the box and the spider in. dotted lines. 7 I
The-nature of my invention'consis'ts in a peculiar construction of the gear to be attached to and work the Washing-machine; it consists also in the arrangementof the spider, worked by said gear, and provided with pins, which do the washings, as will behereina'fter explained. To-enahle others skilled in the art to make and use my iuventiom-I will proceed to describeits construction'and operation. V
Plated-provided with two raised circular flanges a a, forming a groove, is secured to the cover -F of the washing-box H, and a pin or shaft B, provided with a circular plate, 6, passes through the centre of the plate A, and through a wooden spider, C, to which it is firmly secured. Several rollers or balls d d are'laid into the room between the flanges a a, the plate 6 resting and moving on them, and. the whole'is covered-by a hell'- shupcd netallic cover, D, fastened to the lid of the box H; the top of the pin or shaft B protruding above it,
on the end of which a crank-handle, E, is screwed. The lid or cover Fol the washing-:box is laid inside of the box 11, and rests on its flangesff- It retains its position, and gives to the plate A also a steady position, during the operation of the machine, by means of the crank-handle E, while the pin B and the spidcr C revolve. The lid-J's hinged to thehox. Thespider C may have four or more arms, to which washing-pins G G are attached.
The box H is square.
The operation of the machine consists in this, that the suds and cloth are put into the box, and the lid shut, and the crank-handle E is turned one way and the other, by which movement the spider G is moved also,'and
its pins, stirring the cloth, wash it.
What I claim as my invention, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The gear, consisting of the grooved plate A, pin or shaft B, provided-with plate 5 and rollers d d, in combination with the lid or cover F of the box, the whole arranged and operating substantially asherein set forth. The spider C, provided with pins G G, in combination with the above-described gear, substantially as set forth. I I I i MIKEL BECK.
