IMPROVEMENT IN FENCES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 52,828, dated February 27, 1866.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, MORRIS DroKLE, of Wellersburg, county of Somerset, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable Fences 5 and l do hereby declare the following to be a clear and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

Figure l represents a side elevation; Fig. 2, an end elevation.

A represents the bottom sill, upon which the side pieces or strips, B B, forming the posts, are erected and mortised.

Two cross-pieces, C C, also mortised to the sill, cross each other, and', Inortised evenly, support the side pieces, B B. The side pieces are .tapered to a point at top and covered by two square pieces, D D, to protect the post from the weather and give a finish to the post. Square apertures E are eut in the side pieces to allow the square rails Gr to pass through, and enable the posts to be shit'ted closer together or Wider apart, as shown at Hin red lines.

The advantage is in its cheapness, neatness, and being easily transported. What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The construction of the portable fence as herein described, and for the purposes set forth MORRIS DIGKLE. Witnesses:
