MOSES K. BOETREE, OF JACKSON, MICHIGAN.
CORSET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 239,295, dated March 22, 1881.
Application filed November 29,1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be-it known that I, MOSES K. BORTREE, of the city and county of Jackson, Michigan, have invented an Improvementin Corsets. of which the following is a specification.
The nature of this invention'relatcs to cer- ,tain new and useful improvements in the conof nursing without the necessity of entirely removing the bust-piece from the body of the corset.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts, all as more fully hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, A represents onehalf of a corset-body, the upper front portion of which is cut away, as shown at a, and the vertical sides of this cut-away portion are provided with the hooks Z).
15 represents the bust-section formed into the proper shape, and in the two sides thereof is secured the series of eyelets c, which, when the bust is in place, engage with the hooks b, as may be desired. The bust-section Bis made smaller at its lower end, as shown at h, Fig. 2, to fit intothe pocket 6 in the corset, in which it may be vertically adjusted.
By this construction and arrangement of parts the bust can readily be adjusted as the wearer may desire, and one side of the bust can be detached and folded back for nursing without changing its vertical adjustment.
If desired, the bust'pieces may be proi'ided with flaps d, to conceal the hooks and eyelets, and to prevent their catching in the'outer garments.
What I claim as my invention is- 1. In combination with a corset provided with a vertical adjustable bust, the hooks and eyes, or equivalent fastening, by means of which one side of said bust may be detached and adapted to be folded back without chang' ing its vertical adjustment, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
