Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the rod 5 5 is of elongated extent provided with reduced areas 6 -1 adjacent the end A. These reduced portions 6-! are provided with circumferentially extending ribs 8 which extend approximately one-half the distancearound the rod. The end portion B of the rod increases in diameter'to the point 9 and then gradually reduces the diameter to the reduced point In from where it starts to increase in diameter again to the thick point I l.
Each end of the'rod isprovided with a short slit 12 to accommodate a spring whereby the ends of the hair can be secured in place.
Obviously either end of the rod can be used to form waves depending upon the type and size desired. l v
