Description
Sept 28, 1937. J GYRATH 2,094,067
HAIR WAVING PROCESS Filed April 15, 1937 Patented Sept. 28, 1937 UNITED STATES HAIR WAVING PROCESS Johannes Hendrikus Gyrath, Amsterdam, Netherlands Application April 15, 1937, Serial No. 136,981 In the Netherlands December 15, 1934 1 Claim.
The invention relates to a hair waving process according to which the hair is moistened with a hair waving liquid (permanent wave-liquid), and arranged in water waves, after which heated air is conducted over the same.
In a process of this nature use is generally made of a head fitting device for conducting heated air over the hair treated in this manner.
The present invention has for its purpose to render a hair wave thus produced as lasting as possible.
This purpose may be attained in a satisfactory manner according to the invention, by heating the air to approximately the usual permanent waving temperature (at least 100 C.) and conducting the heated air over the hair by means of a cap which is completely closed with the exception of the inlet and outlet openings for the air, after said cap has been so closely adjusted to the head of the person to be treated that no air can escape along those parts of the head which are not covered by hair.
It has been found that by means of the process according to the invention and with the aid of the cap used in said process, it is possible to obtain a hair wave the durability of which comes very near to that of a permanent wave.
The invention will now be further explained with the aid of the accompanying drawing representing an embodiment of the cap used in carrying out the process according to the invention.
The figure shows a front view of the apparatus used in giving a permanent wave.
The hollow cap I is provided with a flexible extension piece 2, the lower edge of which is closely fitted around the head of the person to be treated, exactly in accordance with the demarcation line of the hair, after the hair of the said person has been moistened with a hair waving liquid and arranged in the waves desired.
The cap I may be suspended with the aid of a strap 3 and a pulley and is provided with connections 4 for admitting hot air into the same.
A thermometer 5, a pressure gauge 6 and controlling devices 1 are serving, respectively, forcontrolling the temperature and the pressure prevailing inside the cap and for controlling and directing the hot air which is allowed to escape from the cap, preferably through openings not shown in the drawing, and provided near the closing edge of the extension piece 2.
The reference numeral 8 denotes a cover giving admittance to the interior of the cap.
I claim:
Hair waving process according to which the hair is moistened with a hair waving liquid (permanent wave liquid) and arranged in water waves, after which heated air is conducted over the said hair, characterized in that air is heated to a temperature usual for permanent hair waving (at least C.) and is conducted over the hair with the aid of a cap which is entirely airtight with the exception of the openings for the inlet and the outlet of the air, after the said n JOHANNE'S HENDRIKUS GYRATH.
