Air-douches.- Apparatus for drying the hair comprises a shell a, substantially covering the head, and a number of nozzles b projecting thereinto through which hot air is delivered from a heater and fan c, d. The air may be withdrawn through an aperture f by a fan f<1>, the aperture f being also adapted to receive long strands of hair. Control of the heater and the fans is effected by a device e mounted on the member a or independently thereof. The shell a contains a curved plate g of rubber or the like having tongues g' contacting with the head along the lower edges ot the hair. The head is enclosed, at the front and sides respectively, by a hinged arcuate plate i having a rubber lining j, and by rubber lined flaps h adapted to be swung outwards about vertical hinges on their near edges. In a modification the members h, i are replaced by an annular rubber sheet lined with rubber tubing and adapted to be slipped over a beading on the shell a. In order to give a whirling motion to the air supplied, the nozzles b may be provided with vanes or propellers attached directly to the nozzles or to supplementary nozzles secured thereto. A single small nozzle b<1> may be provided to lead hot air to the top of the head. The shell a may be provided with glass or celluloid windows k, which may be kept free from moisture by the use of auxiliary nozzles, and may contain one or more electric lights. The incoming air may be ozonated or perfumed. The apparatus is adjustably mounted on a pedestal or the like. The Provisional Specification describes a form of outlet for the air comprising a pair of arcuate plates connected by converging side-pieces, the curved ends of the plates fitting the forehead and having apertures or projecting tongues giving communication with the outlet pipes.
