My invention has reference to surgical appliances for use in connection with the human male organ of generation.
An object of the present invention is to pro- 7 vide an appliance of this character which is adapted to be inserted in the prepuce to expand or enlarge the opening thereof and enable the loose skin to be peeled back over the corona glandis; and further to provide a device of this character which when it has served its purpose,
may be readily dispensed with.
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the appliance, and
Figure 2 is a, sectional view therethrough. Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, it will be seen that the surgical appliance consists of a split band or girdle 5 of a flexible or ductile material, as for example, plated or German silver, or other non-corrosive 20 material. The band 5 is curved transversely so as to represent, as clearly shown in Figure 2, a convex inner surface 6 and a concave outer surface 1. The end edges of the band are rolled as at 8, thus precluding any sharp edges 25 that might injure or irritate the flesh.
As shown, the band 5 is split and the ends formed by the splits are substantially arranged in overlapping relation as suggested in Figure 1.
From the above it will be seen that in actual use, the band 5 in a contracted position is inserted in the prepuce and disposed over the head of the male organ in a manner to enlarge or expand the opening of the prepuce so that the lat- 5 ter may be peeled back over the corona glandis. As is well known, this foreskin opening becomes so small as will not permit the loose skin to be pulled back thus causing infection and much annoyance. However, with the use of this device, 10 this foreskin opening Will in time become large enough to permit the loose skin being peeled back, and when this result is obtained the device may be removed and dispensed with.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
An appliance of the character described comprising a split band of ductile, non-corrosive material having rolled end edges, said band in cross-section being convexo-concave in shape, and the ends of the band formed by the split being arranged for substantial overlapping relation, said band adapted to be contracted and inserted within the prepuce for expanding the fore-opening thereof to enable the loose skin to be peeled back over the corona glandis of the male organ.
