IMPROVEMENT IN RECEPTACLES FOR GROCERS MEASURES.

Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 205,665, dated July 2,1878; application iiled April 2 ,1878.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, MICHAEL R. MILLER and ABSALOM B. WORMAN, both of Bradysvile, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Receptacles for Grocers Measures, &c., of which the following is a specification:

The object of our invention is to provide grocers, oil-dealers, &c., with a convenient and cleanly device for holding measures and funnels-an object which we attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l is a perspective view, partly in section, of our improved receptacle for grocers measures, &c., and Fig. 2 a transverse section of the same.

A is an oblong box, provided at the top with a-hinged lid, B, and at the bottom with a removable drawer or receptacle, D, the latter being lined with sheet metal or other suitable material, so as to prevent leakage.

Within the box, immediately above the top of the receptacle D, is a transverse partition, F, in which are formed, in the present instance, three openings adapted to the spouts of funnels G of different sizes, the height of the box above the partition being such that the measures J, when inverted and placed within the funnels, will not prevent the closing of the lid B.

When a funnel and measure, after having been used, are replaced in the box in the position shown, the liquid still adhering to the sides of the funnel and measure soon drains into the receptacle D, leaving the funnel and measure clean and dry, in which condition they remain until again required for use, the lid B effectually preven ting the access of dust or insects to the interior of the box.

By this means we are enabled to overcome the annoyance to which grocers are constantly subjected when the measures, &c., are exposed.

We claim as our invention--- The combination of the box A, lid 13, drawer D, and perforated partition or support F, all arranged substantially as described.
