Description

June 24, 1930. E. J. E. DEWOITINE I 6 5 METHOD FOR ATTACHING ON FUSELAGES WINGS HAVING SINGLE SPARS Filed Dec. 14, 1928 Patented June 24, 1930 EMILE JULIEN EUGENE DEWOITINE, F CHATILLON-SOUS-IBAGNEUX, FRANCE METHOD FOR ATTACHING ON FUSELAG-ES WINGS HAVING SINGLE SPARS Application filed December 14, 1928, Serial No. 325,978, and in France December 27, 1927.
The present invention has for object a special method of attachment on the fuselage of a wing having a single spar, through bearing means so devised as to support the bending, drag and torsional stresses.
The invention particularly consists in directly connecting the upper and lower flan e plates of the spar to the points of attachment on the fuselage.
The accompanying drawing diagrammatically illustrates, and by way of example only, a form of carrying out the invention.
Figure 1 is a side View.
Figure 2 is a front view.
In this example, the attachment of the single spar 1 to the fuselage 2 is effected in two different planes either parallel, A and B, or convergent, C and D. In each of these planes, the front bearing is obtained through the bars 31 and the rear bearing through the bars 67. The bars 3 and 6 connect the front attaching means 8 and the rear attaching means 9 to the upper flange plate of the spar l, and the bars 4 and 7 connect the same attaching means to the lower flange plate of the spar.
It is obvious that the form of construction described is capable of receiving numerous modifications, which are all included in the scope of the invention.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a monoplane, a wing including a single spar and upper and lower flange plates, a fuselage arranged below the wing, and means for suspending the fuselage from the upper flange plate and from the lower flange plate of the spar.
2. In a monoplane, a wing including a single spar and upper and lower flange plates therefor, a fuselage arranged below the wing, and bars suspending the fuselage from the upper flange plate and from the lower flange plate and connecting the flange plates directly to the fuselage.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
EMILE JULIEN EUGENE DEWOITINE.
